Privateer Fortuna mods

Hi all,

I build privateer Fotuna in stud.io and started modding some of her features. Adding (swivel)guns, also working on a hull (progress is very slow on this), but also wanting to give her gangways to connect the forecastle and quarterdeck. This is where I want some advice.
The gangways are based on the original design for Frigate Concordia, but I'm not sure how to handle the sides. Just fill it in with regular bricks, or continue with the decorated sidepanels and flower design?
