xwingyoda Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Guys, found two new KK2 sets (not on SAH yet, weird): its the sets 8801 & 8802 (the "boat" sets). Will do a lot of pics and post them here and do my first little review ;) Here is the pic of the box of 8801 Quote
The Middleman Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Hey yoda, This is sort of old news, been talked about a couple times before. They just hit Singapore. I'd like a couple copies of the Sea Fortress set, PM me if you're willing to help. :) Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 I know its old news Jay, I'll do a review of those since no one did one already ;) EDIT: I am currently taking pics, will do my review once my Shelf gallery is online (moderated) ;) Quote
SuvieD Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I can't wait for the review. Especially the small fort. That looks great! Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 Here is my review of set 8801, enjoy !! As a general statement, I think the boat really looks nicer than I expected !! First, a global pic : I will do this review with pros and cons!! The Cons first hehe ;) *The skittle knights once again (I will spare you pics !!) * Another boring catapult, yeayyyyyyyyy * The lack of sails... I wonder how this boats travels. My the Gods be with the skittles knights on their perilous journey :D !!! * The lack of accessibility: no way to move in the boat and to access either the front platform or the upper deck. * The lack of details of the rear (inside and outside). Its plain and dull !!! Now the Pros: * The shape of the boat and its colors * The helmets (and not visors) of the knights: dark green and kind of gold looking one !! Those can be usefull * The front with the two spikes and the inclinable dented platform. That is the set Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Yoda, do you know what that brown piece on the catapult is? It would be nice to have a Peeron link. ;) Nice reveiw though. ;) Quote
SuvieD Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 It's a hockey puck! Actually, it started as a hockey puck but was also used in the knights polybag as wheels for . . . another catapult! *sick* I think TLG really like catapults. I am not sure what the part is called. If you look at the hockey slammer stadium I am sure you will find the part. It is actually nice as a wheel though. Quote
Khorne Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 What about the wall? Anyway, the boat looks kinda cool, if you replace the bley with brown and the B-Blue with black, you could recreate the Orc assault boat out of LOTR 3. If you replace the B-Blue with dark red and add some Republic logos, you could make an assault boat for clones :-D . The possibilities :oD . But no money :'( . Quote
eDeevo Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 It does appear to be a nice little set, I may get a few... although I could definetly do without those Rainbow Knights |-/ Life is Good. Quote
Ras 74 Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Looks kind of nice for parts. And I like your new "name" Yoda, hehehe... Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 Review of set 8802 As a general statement, I really like this set!! Lets start with the Cons first hehe * The little boat is horrible !!!! It lacks details. It only has a mast with the scorpion flag as a sail !!! Nothing else !!!! No rows, nothing to attach it to the little dock... * The top part lacks details !!!! OK its only 4 studs wide but it could have been wider !!!! Also the left tower Quote
christopher110 Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Review of set 8802* A lot of usefull parts !! I love the two Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Review of set 8802* A lot of usefull parts !! I love the two Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 23, 2005 Governor Posted August 23, 2005 * The little boat is horrible !!!! It lacks details. It only has a mast with the scorpion flag as a sail !!! Nothing else !!!! No rows, nothing to attach it to the little dock... This reminds me of the boats that come in Pirate sets. At least this one has a sale! Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Well phes, Usually pirate boats had rows and benches, here nada!! In the Enchanted Island set, the pirate boat has a real sail, remeber ?? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 23, 2005 Governor Posted August 23, 2005 And Rock Island Refuge, and Lagoon Lock Up and Imperial Trading Post... But yes, they all had oars and seats... I didn't realise the boat in question was lacking these... Quote
SuvieD Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 It is referred to as dark tan or dark tope. It is a goldish color found in few sets so far. Aunt May from spiderman has an outfit in this color, the viking longboat has a few parts in the color and the Rascus minifig has hands and helmet in the color. As far as Vladeks set it look very nice. Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Tks SuvieD for this info ;) This color looks really nice, I love it *wub* Quote
The Middleman Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 You also get a good dozen LARGE plates in this color in Vladek's Dark Fortress, and a couple smaller ones in Scorpion Prison Cage. It reminds me of wet sand. Quote
KimT Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I don't get this KK stuff - the sets seem ok - though they're not even close to good ol' castle themes. What I don't get is why there's only those 4 good knights and a bad guy.... Where's the great army - the roaring hordes that throw themselves into battle.... Here we only get those knights in pantsy coloured armors climbing and sneaking around a bad guy in a black armor - kinda geeky. But both sets seem to contain good bricks. KimT Quote
MattZitron Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Are these sold as one set? And will they be available in Europe? Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Well Matt, I bought them in Paris as a pack: both sets for 35 Quote
MattZitron Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Cool. I plan on getting a couple of those little Vladek walls to beef out my Dark fortress when I get it. Quote
christopher110 Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Cool.I plan on getting a couple of those little Vladek walls to beef out my Dark fortress when I get it. I would do that too. Why do TLC have to sell them in pack? Quote
