chase Posted August 2 Posted August 2 With the midnight valley collection on the horizon I was wanting to start a discussion as I have been building my own haunted house and and running into a wall when it comes to horror style play features. The couple I’ve come up with were a revolving painting that reveals the painting subject appearing in real life, a sort of moving curtain that reveals a ghost/ghoul. I wanted to pick your brains as to what other horror focused play feature ideas can be developed, not every haunted house is built the same and I would love to make more after the first one comes to fruition but what do you think???? Oky Posted August 2 Posted August 2 There are so many things you could do. The best would be some kind of jumpscare: a skeleton/ghost popping up from under a trap door, appearing from behind a revolving wall, or pushing out of a closet or something. Other ideas: A vampire/mummy rising from their coffin like in the BDP Adventure in Transylvania set A werewolf transformation feature like in the Shrieking Shack set A statue on a turntable so that it can follow passersby A tree that can spin around to reveal a scary face Spiders dropping from the ceiling Circling bats similar to the bees in the Winnie the Pooh set A Hidden light brick with something in front of it to cast a scary shadow A Frankenstein lab with various spinning gizmos, a raising table, etc. The possibilities are endless! PossumPatrol Posted August 3 Posted August 3 This thread includes a MOC by @Oky that uses the Pepper's Ghost technique to create a very impressive illusion of a ghost. On a simpler note, my churchyard MOC includes a mausoleum with a skeleton that pops out when you lift the roof. If you wanted to include motorization, you could have some ghosts or a witch on a broomstick circling above the haunted house. Quote

Hehe, thanks. I suppose I should’ve mentioned that myself, although it is a somewhat tricky effect to get right, especially with purely LEGO pieces, and it takes up a lot of space in a build. For that MOC, I used Brickstuff lights, but I’m sure it can be done with a light brick as well. When executed properly though, it is indeed a very cool feature! Quote

The possibilities truly are endless, I’m gonna want to post a photo of the inside of the model as soon as I can get a chance cause it’s got 3 stories but I wanted to keep this thread as a spot for anyone else who is building their own horror set so they also can have ideas! speaking of which, what is your guys take on more mature/gory and adult horror style play features that Lego wouldn’t touch? I know that some won’t want those so if that’s the case we can create a separate forum for those too. Quote
