Auroralampinen Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Well, as the old saying goes, when you need him the most. He returns with a new model:). Today I will show my first attempt to create this kind of heavy machinery. Plus, this type of machinery is in high demand on technic fans' wish lists. Because Lego has not done this scale machine in a decade(Last time in 2011). But recently they made this kind of machinery but it was tiny. So a bigger scale build with a ton of functions is long overdue:). Let's get drums playing:). Here is the Mechatech Backhoe Loader. My first ever tractor build and backhoe build:). Functions:). 4x4 With Central Differential. Working R3 Engine. The Legendary 8455 also had an R3 Engine. HOG Front steering with turning mudguards. Working Steering Wheel with faster gear ratio. Tiltable front Bucket. Front loader lift. Working Outriggers. The rear arm can be swiveled side to side. Rear arm 1’st section. Rear arm 2’nd section, which is connected to the bucket. Pieces:). 1311pcs:). Gear count:). 57:). Functions video:). Looks:). The Mechatech Backhoe Loader next to a couple other Mechatech models:). Functions in picture format:). Free instructions:). https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-267331/Auroralampinen/mechatech-backhoe-loader/#details If you made it this far, have a nice July:). Edited 6 hours ago by Auroralampinen Quote
Auroralampinen Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Here is a little behind the scenes stuff for you:). I have always been fascinanted by backhoes. But they have seemed always too complicated for me to replicate in lego form and i have tryed to build backhoe loaders for multiple times but this was the first fully working backhoe loader which i have created:). About the 4x4 drivetrain:). Well, my backhoe concepts were previously huge and massive. But after the launch of 42242 with its compact 4x4 and when i created the U400 i had experience for building compact strong driveable and steerable front axles. So the backhoe loader final scale was after that choosed:). When i started build/designing of this. I started with the lower connection hinge for the rear arm and moved forward from there:). My backhoe concepts always had 4x4 drivetrain in mind. Because for some odd reason lego still only releases tractors with RWD or without drivetrain and let the 4x4 in the naming do the heavy lifting for the model's lack of true 4x4 drivetrain:). The rear arm and part of the front arm was inspired from the Technic 8069 Backhoe from 2011 and my plan was that this is spiritual succsessor to the 8069:). And yes, again with this some bits are recycled from my other mocs. Like the outriggers which are from the Mechatech Logging Truck. But 42242 refined them so i incorporated the more refined outriggers in here. So this model uses the same outriggers as on the 42242:). This model’s front bucket is from 42209:). Have a happy and pleasant experience of building and playing with the Mechatech Backhoe Loader:). And yes, this model was a instant succsess on rebrickable. So there is a high demand for playable and functional Backhoe Loaders:). Quote
