[TC31][WIP] Red Monster

Hey Guys+Gals,

coming from the early 90s era of monster trucking, I totally admired Bear Foot over all other trucks. I somehow liked the longer wheelbase in contrast to Bigfoot or Grave Digger.

My first idea when we talked about the contest was to use the long soft shock absorbers for front and rear.

But testing it with front suspension, they were too hard for my taste, as I wanted 2 of them on each wheel. Also I so far couldn't manage to implement them in a neat fassion to secure enough turning angle of the front. After tinkering for 2 hours now, I ended up with this, which look and sturdiness I really like. I don't want to make a copy of BearFoot, but be a little inspired by it, so will definitely go for a red bodywork. And adding a white racing stripe gives it +10% speed as we all know.

Plan is to give it 4WD driving a fake V8 engine in the middle and 4 wheel steering with the 3 steering modes from Claas 42054.

Some updates:

I nearly finished the inner components, just the rear end with the selector switch for the steering mode is missing, as I am unsure about the out body structure. The modularity is still maintained, so we have:

- Front structure with front axle and steering
- Middle structure with engine and steering connection
- Rear axle
- Rear upper structure
- Outer Body

Needed parts are ordered and should arrive this weekend, so I can finally make the physical model.

What you guys think I should go for with the outer structure? Station wagon? Pick-up?

Looking good, and I like the engine module. I can't figure out yet how you are routing the rear steering control.

Pickup for me. The looks always works best for my eyes on Monster trucks.

I’m not getting monster truck vibes from the buggy one to be honest. The body looks way too big compared to the wheels and the driver seat?  It looks like a typical sand dune buggy thing.
I may be wrong as it’s a digital build and hard to tell scale perhaps?

I would also go for the pickup style which is more associated with monster trucks I suppose, but also that front body work is looking quite big? Need to see a real build that’s more complete for better scale perhaps.

Thats just my view of what denotes  a monster truck anyway

The rear suspension in my mock-up-builts had the axles (brown 5L axles with stop where the long CV joint is positioned) travelling nearly perfect, so I thought I didn't need an extra CV or unijoint on the lower side. But after testing it with one sided loads, the axles bend... so back to drawing board it is.

Haha! This model is thought out without electronic components or I have to redesign everything. But nice idea! :D

I know what you mean, thats why I narrowed the body already from the first post to second by 2 studs. The red body parts, especially the big fenders were just so fitting looking at the real picture of BearFoot in my first post. But the 2 stud wide steering wheel isn't too big in my opinion. Hmm first I finish the main chassis, body comes next.
