The Lego Star Wars line started as early as 1999, my birth year, yet it wasn't until 2002 that we got our first set for it was built, and it wasn't even a playset with a detailed interior. That wouldn't be developed until 7 years into the line in 2006, and then later 2 smaller, slightly more detailed models were released in 2014 and 2024 respectively.

Still, that begs the question: Could a bigger, badder and better one have been built all the way back in 1999 with only the parts available during that time? Well, you'd be surprised...

This beastly model is built with a detachable roof and detailed interior composed of the main bridge (directly copied from still-shots from the original trilogy), an engine room loosely based off of official technical manuals, and just for the fun of it I added a sleeping quarters and a kitchen. Lastly, it has miniature TIE Fighters that can be pushed out of the hangar bay with a pole at the very front of the inside of the ship. Ignore how out-of-scale this all is XD

Here's a simplistic ejection mechanism used for getting TIE Fighters out of the hangar bay: Just put one in the slot near the front, push on a pole at the very front tip of the frame, and it'll eject the TIE Fighter out!

And lastly, here it is compared to the 3 other playsets I modelled it after (2006, 2014, and 2024)

I love these retro style builds, this one looks fantastic! Interesting choice to build the hull with upside down plates, creates a pretty cool look! Fabulous interior too
