BKu Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I am using Brickstore for quite a while and there is one annoying thing in it: The figures are not placed in the centre of the coloms, something which is easy to do in Excel. When I print out a list, in some type of colomns (f.i. quantity) is lined out to the right side. Then it's so close to the next colomn which is lined out left, that you hardly see that these are two figures and not one. I have looked around to see if I can line out it myself, but nothing found. Anyone with a solution for this. (I requested the author, but never had a reaction) Quote
JesseNight Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) I don't have a direct solution, but I recognize the same formatting that Excel (and similar tools) have by default. Columns defined strictly as a numeric value (like Quantity) are by default aligned to the right, so that big and small numbers are perfectly aligned underneath each other. Text & mixed values (like Item ID) are by default aligned to the left. I am not familiar with the Brickstore tool, but what you're looking for is "Align" options or buttons. If those aren't there, it's probably not possible. Alternatively, if the program is advanced enough, an "Indent" option might be there to create spacing between the content and the edge of the cell. Again, this is all stuff I know from Excel, I have no idea how advanced Brickstore really is when it comes to custom formatting of its tables. As a last resort, perhaps swapping columns could be an option (like putting the picture between them). Edited February 21 by JesseNight Quote
BKu Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 Swapping the columns and adding empty columns is what I do now, but it's not to my satisfaction as it makes the layout sometimes not looking logical. I looked back to my question to the developer, and he answered three years ago (never saw it) that for him this was not important, following the Excel rules was fine for him. I have to live with it😭. JesseNight Posted February 22 Posted February 22 If you prefer not to swap columns, maybe a very narrow empty column between Quantity and Item ID can create some spacing. Quote
BKu Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 Yes, that's what I am doing now, unfortunately this has a minimum width, which doesn't make it look very well, but it's better then having the figures closed to each other. One of things that makes it problematic for me is, that a column that looks like a figure is not handled as a figure, but as text. Text is alligned left, figures right. So if you see the picture above the column Item ID is handled as text. It is what it is and live with it. Quote

This is what I meant when I said "mixed" values. Numeric values that are aligned to the right have to be strictly numeric. The ID column contains both numbers and occasional letter prefixes or suffixes, therefore it is handled the same as text unless specifically defined otherwise (it's the same in Excel). Not much you can do besides workarounds, if the developer isn't going to add format options. Quote
