Book IV - Prelude 1: Queen Ylspeth's Tower Study

Queen Ylspeth stood up from the table in her tower study and looked out the open balcony door to the bright spring day, birds singing, and fresh cool air pouring in the door as the first buds began to open on the trees.  She turned around and addressed her closest advisor, N’ri.

“N’ri, my heart swells with pride for our realms, having survived the chaotic civil wars, and banding together rather than bickering amongst one another and devolving into further conflict.  We are in a prosperous time, and I wish to encourage our new prosperity. Even now, the bards travel the lands and sing about the amazing things across our guilds.  What can we do to sustain this prosperity?”

N’ri paused a moment, thinking, then replied.  “Your Majesty, these bards travel far and wide with story and song. We at the monastery have learned much from the Kaliphlinian ashiks, who have their songs and stories recorded at the University of Petrea.  We have much to learn from these bards.  As the old saying goes, ‘bring a man a fish, and he shall be fed for a day; teach a man to fish and he shall feed himself for life.’”

The Queen nodded, “Yes, I am familiar with the saying, although I think some of the fire wizards of Nocturnus had a slightly different version, something about building a man a fire versus setting a man on fire.  Regardless, I take your point.  Trying to direct bards to specific locations will be like herding cats, so what if we use what is already in place?  The University of Petrea would be wonderful for all to access. I think I shall convene my council and draft up plans for expanding the University of Petrea to all the Guilds, with a satellite campus in each.  I think if we offer backing from the royal coffers, the University of Petrea would be amenable to such a proposal.”

“Very good, your Majesty,” N’ri replied with a bow, and she hurried off to call the Queen’s council to the palace.

Exciting to see the Book IV story progressing! Nice work on the study, feels nice and cozy! The plants and glimpse out the window/ balcony are a good touch!

It's subtle, but that curved wall is really good. Love all the little details and of course seeing the Guilds active again!

Great to see the guilds story moving into a new chapter, really nice little interior scene, some cute furniture, especially that shelf with the pillars and the antler-like decoration.

Love to comment but I can't see imgur in the UK. Politics unfortunately.

How ridiculous. I put it on Imgur since I uploaded this previously and didn't want to give away the Book IV opening. I have now uploaded to Flickr and edited the link so you should be able to see it. Let me know if you have trouble seeing other images and I'll move them accordingly.  Thanks for the heads up!

It is indeed. Cheers I can see it now. 👍

The clouds and sky outside are a nice touch. And iv never thought of using the ingot as the spine of a book on a shelf. Might be stealing that 😂

Thanks!  I had fun with the brick built sky.

I rather enjoy that little chair. Not that a fig could sit in it, but it’s a nice size for the room.

Thank you!  I wanted to make the chair fit the fig and then thought better of it. Have you ever seen 'fashionable' furniture? It looks good and you can't use it!

Thanks!  I have spent a lot of time on curved walls and really like this design.  And a huge thank you to you as well for helping keep the Guilds active!

A lovely build with fine fournitures.

And it's nice to see each Guild will have their wing of the Petreae University at their disposal ! :excited:

Thank you!  I think this Book will be fun!

Thanks!  The bookshelf was surprisingly fast to build.

Thank you!  You're welcome to the ingot book!  As for the sky, I have been trying to make 100% Lego scenes more often, so there should be more upcoming.

I really like the stonework and how you built the door's arch. Can't wait to visit the Mitgardian campus!

Wow, I absolutely love the Queen Ylspeth minfigure! I don't know if this was her inspiration, but her red hairstyle and clothing reminds instantly made me think of Anna from the Fire Emblem game series (specifically Fire Emblem Awakening).

Are all the minifigure parts (like the hair) custom or are they actual LEGO pieces and prints?

All genuine LEGO. The hair, for example, come from Barbara Gordon in the LEGO Batman Movie. Her face is Rey from Star Wars. The torso is probably a Lion castle king’s, but I don’t recall now which one. The cape thing is from the Ice Queen from series 16 CMF line.

As the one who created the character of the queen back in…hmm…2017? 2018?…it’s been a while…, I can definitively say the Fire Emblem series had nothing to do with it, as I have never heard of it. It was more of what I had around that looked convincingly royal and feminine, I think, without a dress, of which I had very few at that time. Glad you like her, though! Grover did a good job of building her a scene here.
