LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted Sunday at 11:05 AM Posted Sunday at 11:05 AM (edited) Hello everyone, today I want to present my version of the Stadler FLIRT (Fast Light Innovative Regional Train), 6 studs wide, in Junakalusto's green and blue livery. What I like about this train are the shared bogies and the clean, modern design, with ample space for both passengers, wheelchair users and cyclists. The train, consisting of four carriages in total, is asymmetrical, because in the third carriage a window is blank due to the presence of the restroom. It wasn't easy to reproduce the front silhouettes, so I used some technic elements with a double hinge and one degree of freedom. As always with my trains, the convoy is equipped with lights, and the on/off switches are located in the respective carriages. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas! TeddytheSpoon Posted Sunday at 04:09 PM Posted Sunday at 04:09 PM I've ridden these very trains many a time. Nice model! Quote

LL1982 Posted Sunday at 07:17 PM Posted Sunday at 07:17 PM Nice one. Looks very much a like local Dutch trains. I like how you did the nose. I would have done a complete green brick between the lights though and not half like now. Great to see that rear end also lit. Is that via the hub? Or a separate power source? Quote
Pelzer117 Posted Tuesday at 03:57 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:57 AM (edited) @LEGO Train 12 Volts: nice job in 6w 👍🏻 However, two things struck me when I looked at this picture: On 12/21/2025 at 12:05 PM, LEGO Train 12 Volts said: 1. The lights Have you ever tried half or quarteri tiles instead of circular tiles? Mayve also in trans brown or trans black (not available from TLG)? https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=25269#T=C&C=12 2. as @LL1982 already mentioned, I would either make the tile at the nose completely green or reverse the colour distribution (i.e. small white stripe). zephyr1934 Posted Tuesday at 05:46 AM Posted Tuesday at 05:46 AM Looks great... only thing I can think of is that you could use some wider radius curves for this train Quote
idlemarvel Posted Tuesday at 08:19 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:19 AM Excellent model in 6-wide. Top quality video as well, that took some editing. Can you provide more details of the Powered Up motors hubs and lights please? Quote

Toastie Posted Tuesday at 01:56 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:56 PM A Christmas gift from Emanuele!!! And as per usual: Perfect. Really nice - 6 wide and an interior that would not even fit into 8-wide if I had made it (apart from so many other building techniques, I'll never master ...). Have been on those as well. Thank you very much for sharing, please say hello to the family (we're up North again). Have a wonderful Christmas!!! Thorsten Quote

There are independent circuits and batteries for the two engines, each has its own on/off switch. 13 hours ago, Pelzer117 said: @LEGO Train 12 Volts: nice job in 6w 👍🏻 However, two things struck me when I looked at this picture... Regarding the lights, I agree with your observation, but the 6-stud format doesn't allow us to do any better. As for the front, you're right; it would have been better if it were more green or less white. I'll consider making a change. 11 hours ago, zephyr1934 said: ...only thing I can think of is that you could use some wider radius curves for this train I totally agree, the 40 radius curves are just for stress testing but the final circuit includes both 56 and 72 radius loops. 3 hours ago, Toastie said: A Christmas gift from Emanuele!!! Thorsten Your compliments about my trains are always appreciated, but what I love is how you go beyond that to something deeper and more substantial... so I reciprocate your good wishes (I would have bet you had gone north!) Ashi Valkoinen Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago It is really nice as 6-wide, and also give me some nice memories about starting my topic back in 2009 with my old Stadler FLIRT design. As 6 wide train it has the advantages of a regular LEGO train set needing less space compared to an 8W MOC, but also has nice details which we miss from official trainsets. I'd recommend is remove the LEGO train window glasses from the frames and replace them with single non-train window 1×4×3 glass as the real train have only very limited number of openable windows.
