gvb2003 Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 (edited) One of the first Volvo V60's to be made out of LEGO. To be precise a model from the 2th generation V60 that was launched in 2018. When planning to make this car, I was considering 6 wide as this is most common and easy. However, I challenged myself to go for a unusual approach by making it 5 studs wide. As you can see this works very well for this Volvo. By using jumpers, the 4 wide window and upper part of the body can be centered to create a modern look. In last rendered picture a white model can be seen. I swapped the white wedges that represent the headlights, for grey ones. In these situations it's very unfortunate we don't got any transparant wedges. In the near future parts will be ordered to assemble this iconic wagon. What are your opinions about 5 wide cars? Ts__ Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Cars in 5w are not easy to build, yet this is the right width for passenger cars in minifigure scale. I think your version is very good, even if it's not perfect yet. For example, I find the rear wheel arch still quite “uneven.” I'm still looking for ideas for such vehicles myself, as I need some for a future project. Thanks for sharing! Thomas Quote
gvb2003 Posted December 3, 2025 Author Posted December 3, 2025 Very true and you're welcome! Momentarily I'm working on a convertible Saab 9-3 in 5 wide. It's quite a challenge to get it perfect as I stumble upon the same challenge with the fenders. The jumpers make the use of this bogie piece possible. This part was most commonly used on older City cars. A great solution to make a good base for a 5 wide car. However, I cannot find the perfect parts that will solve the awkward big gaps for the wheels. Quote
