sebulba56 Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Hello everyone, A few days ago, I told you about my acquisition of sets 75300 and 75301 and shared my interpretation of the TIE Fighter. Today, it’s time for the legendary X-Wing. It’s always nice to revisit the classics! This time, the reinterpretation goes much further than for the TIE Fighter: nothing from the original set is kept. However, I reused as much of the inventory as possible. First to minimize costs for myself, and also for those who might want to build the MOC. The instructions are available here : https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-241656/Sebulba56/blue-leader-rebel-fighter/#details Goals for the design : Rework the shape of the front of the ship to create a nice angled line in two dimensions (height and width) and completely redo the nose, which I think is a total miss on the 75301. Give the canopy a slight upward tilt to smooth the transition with the nose and better match the original ship. Redesign the wing deployment system to make it more compact and allow for added details on the dorsal section of the fuselage. I kept the principle of the 75301 system but miniaturized it. This greatly improves aesthetics, with only a slight loss in rigidity, though the wing deployment angle is a little smaller. Make the landing gear fully retractable. Change the color scheme from the overused RED 5 to the BLUE Squadron. Once again, I’m quite proud of the result. I finally have a playscale X-Wing that I’m really happy to look at from every angle. Here are the photos: The dorsal section of the ship, which has been detailed. The X-Foils deploy by pushing the 2x2 round tile: The landing gear, deployed manually: And a few hangar scenes before heading out on a mission to finish: Looking forward to your feedback! :) Quote
Sucram Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Very nice build. Only issue I have is retained from the original set, that being how rectangular the fuselage is from the back. Still looks great though. Quote
TeddytheSpoon Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Fantastic! Looks like a nice halfway house between the original set and some of the hyper-accurate MOCs out there like Jerac's or Mike Psiaki's. Seems like it would still be fairly strong too? Quote

Thanks, you guessed it, that was exactly what I was aiming for. We lose a bit of the accuracy of those outstanding mocs but we really gain in solidity, playability and part count. L-Gauger Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 I like how you changed the color scheme on your X-wing mod. For builders who want this MOD/MOC as a model of a Red Squadron X-wing, do you know if the requisite parts are available in red or dark red? Your MOD/MOC reminds me that I need to get around to sharing my MOD of 75301. It's not nearly as extensive as yours, but I did fix the most glaring issues on the model (nose, engines, landing gear, and wingtip blasters) while using only about 40 extra parts besides those from the original set. Cool ! You should definitly share it ! 9 hours ago, L-Gauger said: I like how you changed the color scheme on your X-wing mod. Yes I just checked, all the blue parts are available in dark red. You could moreover use the 4x4 tiles with stickers of the 75301 so the moc would even use less parts. Quote
