Bricklink are kicking out a number of countries from the marketplace. Not necessarily big LEGO buying populations in each case, but this will affect a few tens of thousands of users in total from these countries:

I'm really surprised that this topic doesn't seem to get any attention at all.

It's an outrageous scandal to ban more than 1/7 of all the countries in the world from the only international Lego buying/selling platform.
SHAME ON YOU, LEGO!

And not a prudent decision business-wise, too IMHO. With companies like Webrick continuously improving their parts range and Wanted List features, I shouldn't be surprised if their market share rose significantly due to LEGO acting like that...

I have heard speculation. Could do something with customs regulations in these countries. Not too sure.

 

A shame, really. I have met multiple South Africans on the internet who were so delighted because official LEGO stores opened in their country. This will hurt the global AFOL community in general. I expect Brick Owl to pick up the pieces....
