I was waiting for someone to point out a drawback of the setup above but haven't seen anything, so Imm spoil it  That setup doesnt really allow a drive axle to pass through to drive the inline 6 engine in the front, and that is an actually challenge I had to solve while designing the model.

The solution is like this. I used a clutch 20z gear to bypass the steering axle. Also in the front, because of limits space, the first crank is only a thin liftarm. You can also notice that I used a bar connector for the last crank because it's directly above the turntable, so it needs to be shorter. A full length 2 module crank will touch the turntable while spinning and can't do a full revolution.

Your solution with the bar connector ist very nice. I'm sure I hadn't found it.

There were several times when I was near to use an idle gear like this, but things always turned out otherwise.

Thank you very much for these insights!

Thanks for the consistent support!

On another note, I tried putting that whole system of the steering + suspension + engine I developed into the 42175, and it fit perfectly! Maybe someone can develop a Volvo FMX 8x4 tipper with full suspensions on all 4 axles based on this.

Per some requests, I made the alternate model a separate MOC. Even though this is an alternate model, it was designed with the same dedication as the main model.

According to the sticker, the tractor truck is based on the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 1845. It's a rather unusual tractor truck because its length is larger than its height even though it's a 4 wheeler.

The original tractor truck doesn't really capture the proportion because the suspension makes the body sit higher. Also the tractor truck houses the battery box but the motor is in the trailer, the body must be shortened so that the cable can reach the battery box.

Because my model doesn't have to accomodate such constraints, I was able to make the tractor truck more accurately.

To ensure the accurate look, I removed the suspension from the rear axle, so only the front has spring loaded suspensions.

My favorite part is the rear, where I used the curved quarter liftarms to mimick the guides for the trailer hitch and manage to find a place to put the wheel chocks. I also added a ladder and a platform behind the cabin. In the original B model the rear wheel is placed under the fuel tank, but there's no space for that in this mini replica, so I put it behind the cabin instead.

The rest is just taken from the main model, no shame on that

Wow. Just read this whole post. Very impressive, especially with how crammed the A model is with functions.

The design of the clamshell buckets is as follows.

The hardest part was the liftarm linkages that drive the bucket pieces. They have to be asymmetrical, because the black 12z gears are not inserted at the same time. The right one is inserted first, then the left one is inserted later to make sure that the left bucket aligns with the right one. Also, the liftarm linkages must not interfere with one another during their movements to push the bucket open.
