benfleskes Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 Just a quick note. Big Ben Bricks will close on 30 September 2025. A big thank you to the LEGO train community. I'd like to believe I played a small role in building the LEGO train hobby to what it is today. And I certainly couldn't of done any of it without the encouragement and inspiration from everyone. You can find a few more details on at http://bigbenbricks.com/ Kindest regards, Ben Big Ben Bricks LLC Quote
Modeltrainman Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 You provided the wheels for my first steam loco! Thank you, and may God bless you. Quote
JopieK Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 The end of an era @benfleskes. Thanks for providing such a great parts and ideas to the LEGO / Brick Train community Quote
TeddytheSpoon Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 A shame, even though I never had the pleasure of owning any parts it's unquestionable what a big impact you had on the train community. Here's hoping you find someone suitable to pick up the baton! Quote
Murdoch17 Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 You've provided innumerable wheels to me (I actually ordered some yesterday!) for my MOC's, and I think everyone who builds LEGO locomotives will miss your wonderful injection-molded wheels. Hopefully someone will step forward and buy your store - otherwise i shudder to think of the impact on the train community if it all went away! Quote
Sven J Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 That's really sad news. Seeing BBB wheels somewhere on the web was the initial spark that brought me back to the Lego hobby some 13 years ago. I really hope that someone will carry on with the company, for - in spite of several new manufacturers of train wheels - the BBB parts are still a league of their own with regard to quality and fit. Thank you so much for your contribution to our hobby, Ben! Quote

Sorry, Ben, this small thing simply did not happen ... ... in contrast, it was an earthquake-like thing that happened: Wonderful wheels of all sizes, >perfectly< made, with >superior< service. It is a big, a very big role you had and will have in the LEGO train hobby. All the very best for whatever you will be doing Yours Thorsten P.S.: Yes, your wheels on a copy of Ben Beneke's 23 taught me: There is more. There always is, but you need to dream it up ... Quote
dr_spock Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Thank you Ben for your contribution to LEGO train community. All the best. Quote
Shiva Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 I never bought train wheels. Yet. But, thank you for your services and work. And I agree with the previous posters. Quote
Hod Carrier Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 I'd just like to add my own thanks and appreciation for your time, effort and devotion. I wish you every success with whatever direction you take next. Quote
DGoSec Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 Thank you for all that you did. All the best to the future and I hope the sale goes well in finding the right person to carry on what you started. Quote
XG BC Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 thank you for everything, while i never ordered anything from you (i only do electric and diesel locomotives and those generally dont need special parts), you were still a big help for a lot of people. Quote
Samgineer Posted Monday at 05:54 PM Posted Monday at 05:54 PM Can you please give us the 3d model files for the wheels? I was literally just about to buy some of your smaller wheels for a Ruston 165 I'm working on when I found out. I have access to a 3D printer and should be able to convert the model files to stl to slice and print with. I only got the privilege of buying your wheels once before for an Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST I made last summer and was SUPER happy with the quality! I'm so sad to see such a wonderful and high-quality source of various injection-molded wheel sizes go away. :( Quote
zephyr1934 Posted Wednesday at 06:52 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:52 AM In a post dated 8 Sept, BBB's front page mentions, "The store as it is, the injection molding tools, the brand, a small lathe used for making wheels with o-rings and existing inventory are for sale. I'd be particularly pleased if the store could find a new home with someone that wishes to continue the business. If you are interested, please email me...." Followed on 30 Sept, "Many people have reached out to me with interest in Big Ben Bricks. In the coming weeks I hope to have more information on what that transition may look like." And nothing since. Has anybody heard and word if BBB was sold? Quote

It's been in and out, its up at the moment http://www.bigbenbricks.com The announcements sounded like there were several interested parties, so hopefully we are in a transition period rather than an after period.
