The Gyrdher family farm was not located along the main road. It was rare any walked by. Instead, it was Gyrder who discovered the world by walking to farms and cottage nearby the family farm. There was one cottage in particular that he visited regularly, Theodor. A straight-backed old man who did not receive visitors except for Gyrdher. Theodor had been in his cottage as long as Gyrdher could remember and he did not understand why others  stayed away from him. He was a bit odd, Gyrdher noted. But watching him work with wood was fantastic. It was as if wood melted in his hands and was transformed into beautiful furniture or practical objects. Gyrdher could sit on his tree stump and just watch for hours without saying a word. This was probably what mades Theodor let him sit where he was without disturbing him in his work. There was something peaceful about watching Theodor working.

Gyrder remember the first time he visited Theodor. Gyrder’s father needed a new ladder because their own had broken when Gyrder climbed up the haystack. Maybe he was seven, maybe eight. He remembers how angry his mother had been. Not at him but at his father. His father had muttered something about everything breaking sooner or later. His mother had said that not if Theodor made them. And so it was. The next day after breakfast, Gyrder and his father put on their coats and walked away to Theodor cottage. Once there, they were met by a grumpy old man. Before Gyrder's father had opened his mouth, Theodor had blurted out a few inappropriate words and that ladders should always be made of birch. "Only idiots make them out of pine." Gyrder could see his father completely speechless and bright red in the face. But from that day on, Gyrder was a frequent visitor to Theodor. He always quietly sat done on the tree stool outside the cottage and start watching Theodor working.

As time went on, Theodor began to tell him more and more about the art of understanding wood and how to best make everything from everyday objects to beautifully crafted furniture and chandeliers. Gyrdher sat quietly, taking it all in. In his heart, Gyrdher felt that what he wanted most in life was to become a carpenter who could create beautiful things from wood with the same skill as Theodor.

This is a cute little build, I like how you used tan for wood that's been worked with and brown for the rest.  Looks like Theodor might need to do some roof repair soon though!

Great use of that small footprint, I especially like how the house is placed and photographed in a way which makes it seem much larger while still staying within the limits of the build.
The semi-studless sloped ground looks much more interesting than it would have done with a more classic approach.

Interesting choice of background too, it almost makes it look like a painting on canvas 👍

The minifig design of Theodor is great!  The sideways log bricks are used well and the tree is a great accent for this build.

Beautiful little build! I especially love the color compination of the dark green grass with the shades of brown for the wood and the orange leaves on the tree, great choices.

I really like the use of grille pieces for the roof, as well as the wooden elements. The grassy slope is also very well done. I especially like how you arranged the logs horizontally — I also built a small cabin and couldn’t find a clean way to do that.

Very nice work!  I like the color palette, with the sand green and the tan.  The fall colors on the tree are very nice, and I like the tan for the unfinished wood. The thatched roof is decent texture, although it's a little confusing the base is the same color as the unfinished furniture. It might have been nice to use a dark tan base with some light tan highlights, as opposed to the opposite that it is now.  Regardless, the building is nice, and I like the teaching scene.  The story is funny, with the family and the disagreement between the husband and wife. One aspect of this that I did not get was the bardic one. This is a master-apprentice type relationship, not as much a bard traveling about spreading knowledge from far and wide.  The small kindling pile is great, and I like the brick built door (the cheese slope door arch is a subtle nice touch!).  I also like how you used the brown for the frame, which I can assume to be larger timbers, and the dark orange etc. for the walls, which is a very nice color blocking choice.  Overall, you have a great little build here, and I look forward to seeing more!

Very nice wagon / carpentry shop! As Kai NRG pointed out I really like the detail of using tan for bare / whittled wood in contrast to the normal brown.
