MrLind Posted August 30 Posted August 30 (edited) After a long evening, Valborgh had reached the last song in her performance. She started strumming her guitar and everyone in the room immediately recognized the melody Walking along the road. The melody was highly appreciated in North Withbo and especially when performed by Valborgh. “Here in North Withbo green forests and land… ” Valborgh began to sing. The room around her listened devoutly. When she come to the chorus, the time stood still as everyone in the room joined she and sing together “Under the branches of the oak. By its trunk. A girl sits with a duck in her arms…. in Avalonia she found a harbor.”. Valborgh takes the final chord on the guitar and smiles at everyone in the room. She loves her job as a bard. Getting to play in taverns or in large halls like this. As a wandering bard, she has the entire world as her playing ground. Or rather as far as her feet will carry her. Which is usually large parts of North Withbo. Edited August 30 by MrLind Quote
TalusMoonbreaker Posted August 30 Posted August 30 This is really cool! I love the way you made the curving wooden roof of the hall. The interior is also very impressive with the shields in the wall, crowded benches, and raised platform of to the side. In the final photo, the background blends in well with build. Given the way you built the rocky base, is this supposed to be built on an igneous batholith (like Half Dome in Yosemite)? Quote
Ben S Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Looks great! The interior really conveys the atmosphere. As Talus Moonbreaker has pointed out, the roof and structure of the building look excellent. Now that's a longhouse! Quote

I was inspired by cliffs along the sea when I made the foundation for the hall. In south of Sweden, large longhouses or halls have been found located along the major waterways at the time. Quote
MKJoshA Posted August 31 Posted August 31 That long house is very impressive. And your interior is full of great detail. Quote
T-86(swebrickLUG) Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Nice build mate!! Loving the ridge of the roof and the scale of the longhouse. Some nice details and editing as well. A minor feedback would be to break of the roof with some kind of chimney/other solution for the smoke to leave the building. Well done dude! Quote
Gideon Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Very nice building! You really nailed the curved shape, making it much more interesting 👍 The atmosphere inside the hall is top notch, I can really hear the singing and laughter, in the dim light and smoke from the great fire pit! Quote
SimWies Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Impressive longhouse! That roofing must have taken some time to complete The scene also feels really alive with the crowded benches and all the minifigs. Quote
Simon_S Posted August 31 Posted August 31 This is so Mitgardian! This is awesome! I love how you used the old vikings shields. They work great for that purpose! And after the interior pictures it was a nice surprise to see that the outside of the building is beautiful as well. Great job! Quote
LordDan Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Love the long house! The multicolor curved roof looks amazing, and it looks great set atop the rocky outcropping with vegetation around. The interior is excellent as well, with the shield decor and vibrant atmosphere. It would have been nice to have an uncropped overview shot of the inside like you did with the exterior. Quote
Seagull King of Vaughan Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I’m envious of all the brown plates you have here! And of the shields hanging from the wall; the only ones I have are from the recent Viking Village. Quote
jtooker Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Great wooden long-house style inn! The roof and wall techniques work very well here. The stone hill you built up under the building elevates it in every sense of the word. Quote
mrcp6d Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Fantastic structure here! Definitely captures the long-house design elements and the scale allowed you to get that nice subtle curve in the roofing. The interior is great too! Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 3 Posted September 3 It was quite a surprise to scroll down and find that this has an exterior side too! That's really nice, allows us to get an even better view of that beautiful wood paneling. It does look a little pixelated (because of the roof) and 2D, but that sort of gives it its own flair so that might even be a good thing. And the row of shields inside is spectacular, very Mitgardian. Quote
Grover Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I love this build. You really captured the viking hall in my opinion, and I must congratulate you on your lighting for the photograph. It is incredibly difficult to get a good picture of multiple shades of brown, and you totally nailed it. It's clear without being overexposed, and the texture is not overlit for a viking long hall. I am also quite impressed with the huge exterior. I love the size, the tons of wood panels, and the great olive plants outside. The cheese wedge roof is insane too! The story for the bard is good, although I would like to have seen it detail more about your sig fig's home community. I hope to see more of these builds! Quote
