Klaus-Dieter Posted August 30 Posted August 30 (edited) Hello everybody! It seems as if we're getting a whole new Sports theme for March 2026. Thanks to Brickmerge these are the infos so far: 43020 Special Edition – Sports – 180 Euros (12+) 43019 Special Edition – Sports – 120 Euros (10+) 43018 Special Edition – Sports – ?? Euros (10+) 43017 Special Edition – Sports – ?? Euros (10+) 43016 Special Edition – Sports – 80 Euros (10+) 43015 Special Edition – Sports – 80 Euros (10+) 43014 Special Edition – Sports – 90 Euros (14+) 43013 Special Edition – Sports – 80 Euros (10+) 43012 Special Edition – Sports – 80 Euros (10+) 43011 Special Edition – Sports – 80 Euros (10+) With this list, some questions appear: 1. Will all these sets be NIKE licensed? (I personally don't need, but could well imagine.) 2. Will there be only playsets or also some exhibits (like this year's summer three NIKE sets)? (With so many sets, I can't imagine all to be only exhibits.) 3. Could it be that there are collectible sets of different international sports groups? (I personally would hate this.) 4. Are we going to see a new soccer stadium, devided into several sets (so in principle modular)? What do you think? Edited August 30 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Lion King Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Just like Soccer theme in early 2000s? Well, I’m curious about it…. Quote
Robert8 Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Well next year is the World Cup in the USA, right? So, it isnt surprising I wonder if these will be licensed as official FIFA World Cup sets or something Quote
lifeinplastic Posted August 31 Posted August 31 If these relate to the a World Cup, I hope we get some printed flag pieces for the countries involved. if they are generic sports, I hope we get some of the missing equipment (e.g. cricket bats and the medal piece in silver and bronze). A golf cart would be good too. Quote

A very expensive mess. Each team usually owns its own licensing rights and so getting all 48 teams to agree will be difficult. In the past, England used to sign a deal with Merlin to produce official stickers instead of Panini. That is why in a lot of older Panini collections, the badge is just an England flag instead of the real badge, and all the shirts are airbrushed so there is no badge or any other FA insignia on them. I guess that is why in the past when they have done sports sets or CMFs they have been either a single company (Nike) or association (DFB for football, Team GB for Olympics) or so generic like the vintage football figures that they contain no official badges. Robert8 Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I didnt mean including every attending national team. That would be impossible since the qualification rounds wont be over until late november I think I meant just using the official World Cup logo in the box art or something like that. Or maybe including only the hosts teams (USA, Canada and Mexico) Quote
