aFrInaTi0n Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Hey folks, some may have recognized already: Since some weeks we have integrated our Frontpage News to be posted to our Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/eurobricks). We thought it may allow our community and their great builds more visibility to reach more people. Vice versa we see it a good possibily for people at Facebook recognizing where they can find the makers to ask questions. We hope you appreciate the feature of cross-posting. Best regards Quote
Oky Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I did notice that the FB page has been more active lately which is great, but it's not nearly as active as it could be. A majority of the frontpage posts still don't get posted on FB. Would be good to see all of the MOCs and announcements shared on there. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Facebook has limits for posts sent to pages. Additionally one can not "hack" the original posting dates of old Frontpage entries. For those reasons we decided to just add current content. But one of my eyes is also sad for us not having all historic posts covered. :) Quote

If you compare the first page of the frontpage with the last few posts on the Facebook page, only about 4 of the 15 frontpage posts were shared on FB. Is the FB functionality really that limited? aFrInaTi0n Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Hmmm for me it has posted all recent Frontpage news entries to the FB page. Additionally to my script taking the frontpage entries, staff is occationally manually posting to the fb page. There we may align better in the future to possibly better just expand the automatic posting with more content (pictures to speak) - for those "doubled content" I manually deleted some fb page entries. So my script shall still be working as expected from what I see from my compare between fb page and the frontpage. Quote
Oky Posted August 27 Posted August 27 This is what I see. I just noticed that the other recent posts did get shared, but only appear under photos and not as posts on the page. It seems that only posts that don't have a link show up as posts. Very odd. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Thanks for sharing. I may take further looks but can not assure any fast solution. Background: The python script was just some weekend project which was considered working from checking 50 postings.. so yeah it may naturally still contain unfound bugs.. :D Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted September 1 Author Posted September 1 Little hint: Seems the automatic-renewal of the fb-tokens is not working out as expected - the script can not post since last friday - I will give an update as soon as that got fixed. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago Issue fixed and latest contests posted to the FB page again. @Oky I have identified some wrongly sorted postings, but need to further investigate why that may sometimes happens. Thanks for pointing out again! Quote

Thanks for pointing out again! Thanks for continuing to work on this. It seems that all of the posts you shared were just quietly added to the page’s photos instead of as actual posts, so I don’t see them in my news feed. The last post that shows up on the page is still the Apostle of Bones one from Sep 4. Again, I suspect this is because all the newly added content had a link in the description. Not sure why FB doesn’t seem to want to share posts with links in them, but I hope you can fix it. Maybe it is filtering them out as potential spam? I know The Brick Fan has been struggling lately with FB blocking some of their posts that link back to their own blog. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago to be honest, I am not happy with their two different type of auth tokens on user and page level.. I am not mainly a swift developer being that deep into oauth, I have to admit - the issue with getting old I reckon.. But I may put it on backlog for now as I still have to fix another thing within the forum here which is annoying more people first.. (broken old links). Quote
