Based on the chassis photos, there's plenty of space for the suspension to work, and you can lower it by 1 or 2 pins =)

The issues are not caused by the bodywork itself, rather by the design of the chassis. You see, I would like it to be detachable (as that is the whole thing one would get from R&R back in the days), however, its current construction allows only about 1 stud of suspension travel. Therefore the lowering can not be done as simply as one would hope for.

After a few months of no progress, there finally is a new rainbow of pieces :sweet:

This time most of the 'improvements' are related to the bodwork. My guess of the current parts count is somewhere between 10-12k and it seems a lot is still missing.

I am particularly dissatisfied with the rear triangular window, as it remains too high and because of that ugly gap right next to it.

I believe the best of this update has to be the reworked front grille, which now finally introduces an angle instead of previous flatness. The height difference between each row is 1/2 of a plate.

The only downside I have found is the need of a completely different middle row, specifically requiring tiles - non-existent wedge tile in metallic silver.

Apart from that, I believe it is an improvement.

Those tan dishes in headlights are going to be replaced with trans-clear ones, as I have found a way to include a light brick in each of them. These will be operated via some type of linkage connected to a button on the dashboard. Until then, they're just going to look weird :look:

Another improvement is considered to be the bootlid. Instead of being completely removable, now it has an opening mechanism (so far I've found no way to split the fin into yet more pieces).

Underneath the lid, there's a much larger opening in order to allow storing a spare wheel in the trunk (unfortunately, there might not be any space left for suitcases...).

The size difference is especially visible when compared to the previous version.

I have made a few design changes when compared to the life-size car regarding the silver stripe on both sides.

  • It does not open together with the bonnet - caused by the placement of the stripe.
  • Door handles are incorporated into the stripe instead of sitting below - I feel it as an exchange of authenticity for a little cleaner look.

At the moment, the weight of this large hollow bodywork is in spite of countless weight-saving decisions still more than 10 kg. I anticipate some serious troubles when rolling. For a while I was intending to scrap my plans for a gearbox inclusion, until I realized that R&R only sold a 'rolling chassis' back then. After all, this might be a little unpractical, yet playable chassis on its own.

Thanks for reading & I wish a great summer to you all!
