MontyMatte Posted July 14 Posted July 14 (edited) Now finally a new building. Nothing special, but my little bro (stepson) needed a prison for his castle. We have discussed in detail and are still discussing the fact that this building looks a bit too nice and might also be suitable for pirates 😉. The focus was not as much on the details as usual but more on stability, playability and reproducibility. As already indicated, the tower also has an interior. To open the tower, simply remove the roof. Afterwards you get an insight into the interior: Mainly consisting of 2 prison cells that are easy to open, an area for the prison master and a sleeping room for the guards. I'll be handing it over to my bro to play with soon and I'm slightly optimistic that it's stable enough.  Aside from the small trees, it looks quite good at the moment. Meanwhile, I've also created the instructions and made them available on Rebrickable – as a Premium MOC, though. https://imgur.com/gallery/prison-tower-collage-EElB61K#7ai9nIVhttps://imgur.com/gallery/prison-tower-collage-EElB61K#7ai9nIV Feel free to take a look directly there if you'd like: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-219018/montymatte/prison-tower/#details And of course, thank you in advance for your feedback! See you soon :)  Edited July 14 by MontyMatte Quote
alphonse Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Looks great, love the details and on the columns, it does look a little cramped, but with the hinging to open it up for play is great. I wonder what the inside of the roof looks like. Quote
Elysiumfountain Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Very well done! I love all the little details on the inside, and the roof is very nicely built. Quote
Grover Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Very nice! This looks like a Bricklink set! Love the exterior. The octagonal shape is nice, and you have some nice texture on the Tudor sections on top. The dark red roof looks good, and I like some of the little details like the bluebird nest. I hope you and your stepson have fun with it! Quote

GeoBrick Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Nicely executed shape with the tower. The color scheme works well, though at first I thought the roof was regular red, not dark red. Talking of the roof, have you looked if its possible to end on a tip instead of a dish? Regarding use as a pirate tower, white round profile bricks instead of the blay ones would go a long way. To end, a good bunch of variation on the eight wall sdes. Quote

LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Fantastic build and incredible internal details! I like how you can not only remove the roof but also open the tower! Quote

Thanks for your kind words as well as for the advices. I haven't tried to end in a tip but it's definitely worth some thought. Also to change some parts to make it more pirate-like is something I'll probably check out. Thanks again :) Quote

I've purchased the plans of the tower in the meantime, and sofar I'm impressed with it. I like the modularity as of how one can incorporate their own wall designs if they want. The pillar support structure of the design nicely allows that. Waiting for the arrival of an order of 1x2 door slide plates now to finish the ground floor, and, continue to the next level with that interesting staircase. Quote
