Oliver 79 Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Hello Lego enthusiast. I'd like to share my latest MOC with you all. The MAN Hooklift truck. The truck is based of the MAN TGS series with fully working hooklift mechanism. It took a long time to figure out the mechanics to make this work to a reasonably realistic level. I'd like to give a huge shout out to @efferman for the inspiration. My model features a a fake inline 6 engine powered by rear differentials, HOG steering, tilting cab, opening doors and of course a fully functioning hooklift. The hooklift is powered with one large PF motor and an IR receiver. The main functions are switchable by a gearbox and selector switch situated just beneath the container behind the cab. It was a big challenge to generate enough power from the large PF motor by gearing down in a very tight space. I doubt there is enough power to lift the container loaded with anything more than cotton wool! The cab is styled with a Model Team aesthetic with a complete interior consisting of seats, steering wheel and dash. I am particularly proud of the styling although, this wasn't without its challenges. The green I chose could possibly have the least amount of useful elements of any Lego colour. And the round arch brick used for the front fenders only come in a very small handful of colours. Hence the Dark Bluish grey. I can't even begin to tell you how many iterations of headlights I went through! I'm still not 100% satisfied with them, but it was the most simple solution I could come up with to create the angles required. Anyway, enough of my waffling. I'll let some photos do the work... I also made a couple of amateur videos demonstrating the functions! This was the reference I used. Along with many others of the same truck. Paul B Technic Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Wow, that is very cool. I love the level of detail in the build and the features all seem to work very well. Quote
Jundis Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Really nice built, and brilliant use for the fender parts :D Have you tried putting the front wheels the other way around? The look a little to wide in this configuration... Other than that, really cool looking model! Quote
Lixander Posted May 28 Posted May 28 (edited) Great work! Bookmarked :)) Edited May 28 by Lixander Quote

icekusbe Posted Friday at 04:19 PM Posted Friday at 04:19 PM Absolutely love it. Would not have believed that it's possible to squeeze in a remote-controlled hooklift in that scale. Quote
Oliver 79 Posted Saturday at 06:58 PM Author Posted Saturday at 06:58 PM Thanks for all the kind words! In fact now I look at at, this may have been the original intention! On 5/30/2025 at 4:27 PM, 1gor said: ...pity it is not driven and steered by PF motors also... Thanks for the comment. I guess it's personal preference, but I much prefer a combination of manual and electric. One of my goals was to only use one motor. Besides, I don't think any more would fit! Quote
