KotZ Posted May 6 Posted May 6 It had taken time, but finally St. Axel's Cathedral had been built in Nouveau Oleandia. The cemetery had been completed earlier; people were always dying, but finally, the cathedral had been finished. But not all was well. There was some contention between the clerics. The clerics of Hades, having completed the cemetery had been making inroads with the more... accessible clerics. The lead priest of the town, unhappy with what was happening, decided to talk to an influential member in town, hoping that having a secular voice in town might be able to help talk to the mayor, Emile Perrault, about what was happening. The clerics of Hades discussing their next move. This cleric decided taking time to breathe and be calm might be best. Quote
Kai NRG Posted May 6 Posted May 6 The stained glass windows are lovely! Must have been a pain to do digitally though! Quote

Setting it up took a good amount of time to line it up, but once that was done, I just grouped them into submodels. Honestly, now that it's done I'll probably just have a file ready to copy and paste into other builds since it was a pain. I think doing it physically might be worse because one wrong move and WHOOPS! there goes all the cheese slopes. Quote
GeoBrick Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I've seen this glass technique used on an event I participated in last weekend, but with clear transparent cheese slopes only. It gave a nice stained window effect. At first I thought the effect came from a sticker, but the builder quickly explained the technique to me. Quote
Khorne Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Obviously seperation of Church and State is not a thing in Oléon . It's a lovely build and the stained glass windows look really cool, as others have pointed it. A fitting addition to Nouveau Oleandia. The build overall looks kind of grey though? Maybe some greenery outside the church could add a splash of color? Or some golden statues or details inside to show some of that Order opulence. The space above the flag also looks kind of empty, maybe you could fit a pediment there? The triangular shape could be a reference to the holy Aplynician Mountain and also link to classical Greek architecture. The cathedral of New Orleans also has some classical elements, which I think are an interesting choice. That being said, I seldom build large buildings this size so I don't know how hard or easy it is to feel it with detail. Quote
NOD Posted June 14 Posted June 14 A magnificent cathedral. The windows are a real eye-catcher. I can imagine that you spent hours placing the triangles in the correct position in a window. Building this physically is probably only possible if you happen to have a superglue and a brush on the table. Quote

Yeah at first glance it's a bit funky but then when you take a second it makes sense. LEGO math is so cool. On 5/24/2025 at 1:34 PM, Fraunces said: Very nice church, the windows are terrific. Thanks for the suggestions, it is fairly grey, and I probably should do a bit more with it. I actually looked at the cathedral as inspiration but could have done much more. The next one should! I only made one and then grouped them in Stud.io and duplicated it like crazy! Quote
