1:10 Porsche 992 GT3 RS

Hello everyone, let me introduce my last MOC : the Porsche 992 GT3 RS. 

It all stated with the 42156 alternate model model, the same car, by Alex Ilea. Given the part availability, this alternate model is amazing. But there were some areas I wasn't happy with. It led to the current project with the following criteria :

- Looking as close as possible to the real 911.

- Steering with working steering wheel and HOG.

- Working 4 speeds sequential gearbox with paddle shifter, not compromising the interior.

- Keeping the DRS activation from the cockpit.

It took some time to obtain a compact gearbox and working DRS but I finally manage to find a very simple arrangement : the DRS axle crosses the gearbox by going through an empty differential.

The stepper and paddle shift mechanisms are inspired from the Hoonipigasus from Anto.

Everything works like a charm.

In the near future I will probably continue  modifying the model by optimising some assemblies.

First of all, thanks for building my model! The updates you did to it are really  welcome, and very cool looking for sure. I really, like how you managed to improve on the lacking parts of my model, and you accomplished a very beautiful final result. I only wish the set had better pieces so I could do a better job, but as you've seen and mentioned, the set wasn't quite that generous in parts. Keep it up!

Model looks really nice, I like really like the details and GT3 looks great in stone grey. Kinda funny to think that it's been almost 10 years since LEGO's original GT3 set and the 911 platform is still one of the most popular cars to make MOCs from.

There's a 7 speed gearbox mod for the original set, maybe it will fit in this MOC too,

Yeah I know this mod. I actually have it built and modified (shifter mechanism, steering). To answer your question, I don't think I could put a bigger gearbox without compromising the interior of the model. But I may be wrong with all the new parts!

 

The car is now disassembled but I took tons of photos, in case I build it in Stud.io!
