crazy technic Posted February 9, 2025 Posted February 9, 2025 my first post here, This is my oldest moc and I finaly finished it, this Moc is based on the Mercedes Arocs slt 4163 8x8, this is the strongest truck Mercedes makes and it can pull up to 250 tons. my moc uses 3 large EV3 motors for the driving and one medium EV3 motor for the steering. one of the most difficult functions to build were the differential locks, IT HAS 7 !! (that's one on every axle and also between them) I managed to get some pictures of it next to the real truck. and I just posted a Youtube video about it too. Quote
Auroralampinen Posted February 9, 2025 Posted February 9, 2025 Well why the video is private? Anyway great moc and great to see it next to the real truck:) Quote

2GodBDGlory Posted February 10, 2025 Posted February 10, 2025 Wow, seven differential locks! Would the real truck actually have three extra differentials in the chassis? Was there any particular reason you chose to use EV3 motors? Was it just what you had available? They're definitely fairly challenging to integrate into models! Quote

I'm pretty sure it has 7,I found it on the Mercedes website, I don't exactly remember but I think the only 8x8 configuration was like that. Yes, until a couple of weeks ago I didn't have any other motors than my two mindstorms EV3 sets, they also have a lot of torque which makes them great for things like this, and I have the rechargable battery pack for the EV3 so that also makes it easyer than AA batterys. 2GodBDGlory Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 That makes sense! When I started out with Technic, I mostly had access to Mindstorms NXT motors, so I built quite a bit of stuff with those. It was challenging to make space for them, but it's what I had! Quote

M_longer Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 Looks cool, especially with real one in the background. Yet your model looks like it's off with proportions of the cab. Do you have more side/front pictures? Quote
Timewhatistime Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 "The most powerful truck ever made in Lego Technic" ...? Seems more likely to be the most random record claim in Lego Technic... Quote

I have since bougth controll + sets, and I must say the compact form factor is much better for most mocs, at the time they where the only thing I had, and also they way my lego technic journey started: on my 10th birthday i got my first mindstorms ev3 set, after i build a couple of the models I imediatly started modifing and motorising everything, probably my first succesfull project was moterisation of the 9395 pickup tow truck, i unfortunatly don't have any footage of it, many other projects followed, during the pandemic I discovered gearboxes ( I was 11), I learned a lot about them, build many tutorials from youtube, and this project of building a truck started not long after, first it waqs just a 4x 4 truck, then 6x6, then 8x8, eventualy i stumbled upon this model and after rebuilding the chassis like 10 more times we arrived here Quote
icekusbe Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 Wow! 8x8 live axle configuration for RC truck is already challenging to pull of, but you topped it with locking differentials. Respect Also the truck looks very good. Quote

Thanks, the front grill and bumper are actualy a collab with a friend, I did all the mechanical madness inside, and I am personally responsible for every overengeneered part in this truck Quote
