SuvieD Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Bionicle sets designed by LEGO = totally suck or at best not so good. Bionicle creations designed by fans = mostly suck or at best good. Bionicle creations designed by very talented fans = totally rock! to almost perfection. I have been more and more impressed by bioncle creations lately. The fact is bionicle creations at first really were some pathetic little things but now with so many different pieces in so many colors you can't help but think they are cool. Then are those who mix technic or system or both with bionicle to create some of the coolest designs ever built. I am not saying I want to give up my system parts and begin collecting all the bionicle stuff but I have changed my mind about them. I mean check this out. This is freaking cool! I used to think bionicle was awful. Then I saw some usefulness in the mobility of some parts but now, I can't help but think bionicle rocks! There will always be people who can't create something cool in bionicle or in system but there are some fantastic creations out there in both. I think I will have to bust out my bionicle parts and build a moc soon. Anyway, what do you all think? Have any of you bionicle haters out there ever tried to build something with them? Anyone have an awesome MOC they want to show off? Quote
legofreak Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 that is freakin cool. I have seen some awesome stuff out there, and it doesnt even need to be huge. i will freely admit that my son is a better bionicle builder than i am, but then again he plays with them all the time. :-D Quote
Dark_Avenger Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I'm terrible MOCer when it comes to Technic, but I've got creations made by others to show off. BZPower's archive of building contest winners. Contest 25 is certainly one of great interest; an invitation-only, permitting just the winners of past competitions. BZP member Natha's gallery (and his first gallery, under the name of Takea). bigfatslob's, who I believe is also registered here. Nonetheless, his is a gallery not to be missed. JINZONINGEN's. Some pretty cool stuff here. Cajun, BZP member nothing short of awesome. There're more, but these are my personal favorites. Quote
TKev Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Gah! I'm so tired of everyone bashing Bionicle! I don't care if you have an opinion, but a lot of people here are from BZP who are huge fans. If you don't like Bionicle and you aren't going to express your opinion through flame, just don't say anything. But back on topic. Bionicle is great for MOCing all around. As legofreak stated, I'm a horrible MOCist. I prefer the sets much, much more. Quote
gylman Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 This is what I've been saying since I joined here a few months ago. Bionicle is not System Lego, and does not integrate well with System lego, which leads to frustration. Many parts are useless, and the Lego models from Lego suck since they are for the 6-9 year old crowd (some notable exceptions are Boxor, Cadhok, Muaka, Exo-Toa, Makuta). BUT BUT BUT when you get enough parts together you can do awesome stuff with Bionicle. The stuff that has been shown on this topic only scratches the surface of what some of the people on BZpower have done. I hope TLC goes back to what it did with bionicle the first 2 years, when they had many a few big sets of 400+ parts that were fun builds on their own, and great sources of parts afterwards. SuvieD Posted August 3, 2005 Author Posted August 3, 2005 Tkev don't get so excited. You admitted yourself that you are not that good at MOCs. Most people are not. That is why I said that. My post is not about peoples poor building skills or lack of creativity or lack of cool parts. I wrote what I said in defense of other peoples really awesome MOCs. I can't build with bionicle parts to make something good yet. Just like I can't build with technic and make something good. But people out there can and they make some sweet things. The sets I talked about are the basic canister sets they put out each year. Some of the bigger boxed sets are nicer. Bionicle is just like technic, system and even duplo. The stuff most people build isn't that good. There are some really nice builds out there so I have to say that bionicle is just as worthy of sharing the LEGO name. Quote

I was upset back there because people were bashing the Bionicle sets and storyline. Not the fact the some people can't MoC very well. Quote
