Wurger49 Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I was pleasantly surprised when LEGO released another Delta-7 Starfighter so soon after the 75333 Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter. This unexpected opportunity allowed me to experiment and create multiple alternate builds. While I initially anticipated a straightforward replication of my previous gunship design, the new set's variations presented some interesting challenges. I decided to put in the controller slope piece into the cockpit this time to allow space for a single pilot, as it’s more proportionate to the overall size of the model, but one can change back to a two-seater if you take out the controller. For easier building, I have broken the whole thing down into 9 manageable sections: 2 wings, 4 side panels, a back ramp, spine, nose and base; snapping them together on studs is a breeze. The back ramp does open, but the support structure blocks out the interior. This small gunship packs a punch. There are two nose mounted laser cannons, one tail laser cannons, with two missile launchers on top of the wings, made using axles and round bricks. The two 6 x 12 Wedge Plates make the wings easy to design with minimum number of pieces. In terms of handling this model, I would recommend picking it up from the spine, and swooshing it around holding the cargo bay floor or front side panels. If you would like to hold it on the back panels, place the pressure on the two light bluish grey 2 x 2 round plates. This gunship is an evolution of my different gunship alternate builds from different sets, it’d be a fantastic addition to any LEGO Star Wars collection!
