evancelt Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 "Orders Arrive at the Mondrie Inn" While stationed in Seawatch, most of the officers of the Corlander expeditionary forces stayed at the Mondrie Inn. Major Brickleton enjoyed the breakfast puddings, which reminded him of meals he'd enjoyed as a child at his home in northern Corrington. After finishing his morning meal, Brickleton headed out to the street, thinking he would head on to the camp where most of his soldiers of the 26th Foot were tented up. Phillipe, the small schnauzer dog, rose and ran after him. Since arriving at Seawatch, the miniature dog had glommed onto Brickleton. Outside the inn, Brickleton spotted a soldier of the 20th Foot. The black epaulettes were the giveaway. The soldier walked toward him, saluted, and offered up a letter. "Orders from Colonel Wolf, sir!" Brickleton thanked the trooper and headed back inside to read his orders. --------------------- Figures from Rocky Mountain Minifigs Quote
NOD Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 A great diorama with interesting building techniques! Really well done, the house looked somehow familiar. It took me some time to realize that it looked like a painting by Piet Mondrian. Quote
Fraunces Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Haha that's so unique and creative, my compliments. Mondriaan for sure would have been proud! Quote
JopieK Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Really nice one :) Piet Mondriaan and LEGO fit very well I think! I don't know if the roof is very much a Mondriaan look but the rest of it definitely is! Quote
Jeff of Clubs Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Good stuff, Evan! I like using various art for inspiration. Surprised to see abstract incorperated rather well. Quote
Kai NRG Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 This is a simply fascinating tudor style! Would you mind if I someday take a stab at an imitation? (Not sure I'll ever get to it but I should like to try ) I'm not quite sold on the roof, but I really like the angles on the road. Quote

Looks goofy in the pic but decent in real life from other angles Quote
Space Coyote Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 (edited) Outstanding work! The building is obviously the star, but the way your figs are expertly posed breathes life into your scene so well, and I especially like that violinist. Your immersive write-up is great as well, this is top-notch stuff all around! Edited May 15, 2024 by Space Coyote Quote
Keymonus Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Definitely an original concept! Something none commented, and that I really like, is the impressive groundwork you did here! Well done al around! Quote
Vliebricker Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 A bit late, Evancelt, but very well done! Very characteristic Mondriaan. LOL that you put this in your built. 🫡👍 Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 That really was a very clever build. Did we put it on the frontpage? Quote
