I read in other posts that some lines like SW will continue until 2011 or more, why?!

and I think some lines like batman that should be replaced by other ones.

I think of these ideas based in popular tv shows, movies, in history, etc.

LEGO CITY LINE

New Promotional Airplane (based in 7893): The promotional planes of lego were small but now with 7893 wide planes yoohoo! why not design a new plane not so long but still wide maybe a twin engine jet.

New train station (modular style) With the new modular buildings maybe a train station with modular design could fit.

Farm with country style house: Could be fitted with new animals like cows hehe :classic:

Subway: a city needs one

Energy supplier truck for fixing cable lines (maybe of vestas): There was an old model of a truck with an elevator like platform for fixing energy lines, I think a new one should come.

7 Eleven store: another good complement for the city.

Zoo: more animals yes hahaha

NEW CARTOON LINE

Maybe one line of The Simpsons, Shrek, Invader ZIM or Fairly Oddparents.

NEW MOVIE LINE

Kung Fu Panda, IronMan, Jurasic Park 4, Back to the future! LOL

ICONIC STUFF

Charles Lindberg´s plane

a Zepellin

Ford T car

The Titanic

Times Square

Sidney Opera house

The Empire State

Anyway those are some crazy ideas! please forgive my ugly english :)

As much fun as a Simpson's line would be (or any other license like that), it just isn't feasible. It costs money to purchase licensed products (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.). The more licenses that LEGO buys the more money each set is going to cost. However, they won't let the existing licenses expire as they are all wildly popular and thus make money. Also, with these licenses there are so many different possibilities that have yet to be seen. I can assure you that TLC has many exciting new things in the works for us all in the future. The licenses reach a more broad audience that the normal themes (Castle, City, Agents) wouldn't normally appeal to. They are more collectible to those fans of Star Wars but not necessarily LEGO.

So, what it all boils down is:

1) Costs for more licenses would drive prices further up.

2) Licenses allow for a broader audience.

Hope this will clarify things for you and maybe appease some of your frustration.

Well, Star Wars is continuing until 2011 (I think) because that's when the license expires and also it is an extremely popular line that is one of TLG's biggest money earners. If you compare SW with what you are proposing, I think TLG would prefer to continue with SW, simply because it is such a successful theme. You have some really great ideas there for new sets, however I get the feeling you might be going about it the wrong way. Perhaps you should suggest some of your new themes in the Embassy? There is a thread there for that purpose. OH, and don't let Batbrick or Brainbox here you saying you want Batman replaced.

Although you did kind of contradict yourself by saying you want new themes and then posting mostly expansions on one of LEGO's oldest themes, City. Some of your ideas are pretty cool, for example I myself would love to see a LEGO Titanic set. Your Empire State Building might become a reality as a small scale model in the new Architect line, but I don't know about a larger one. Perhaps you should order some parts and build a huge one yourself? I don't know how a subway could be carried out however, especially trying to integrate one into a city...

Anyway, thanks for sharing your crazy ideas, it is always interesting to see what other people want out of Lego. Myself, I just look forward to whatever they have next, it's guaranteed to be great! :sweet:

I personally love the city ideas, especially the subway. if lego does make one, then it'll probably just be a convenience store instead of a 7-eleven. so you'll just have to add your own decals. also, definitely the zoo. i've been working on a lego circus for years... it has elephants, monkeys, bears and even alligators... but a circus just isn't a circus without lions and tigers.

as for the licenses:

star wars and batman have both sold very well, i know people who don't even like lego, but like batman, so they bought all the sets. these licenses attract more people to buy.

fairly oddparents might be possible, since they're doing spongebob, i think TLG has license with nikelodeon.

simpsons would be fun too, lego might be signing another license since they seem to have dropped harry potter.

jurassic park has been done before in the studio line, i don't think they're going to repeat it

as for ironman, i think the "other company" has a license for Marvel, it's the same reason why lego couldn't continue spiderman (i think  )

i don't think kung fu panda is possible... no human characters. if u want kung fu panda, just customize your own. (you can pm me if u want some ideas for customizing "animal characters")

Judging from Lego's annual report, Star Wars Lego has been especially helpful in bringing Lego back into profitability, so we should all be thankful it's hanging around (even though I'm only interested in the original-trilogy sets). I think Batman and Harry Potter have helped too, though some lines like Speedracer are obviously unsuccessful. Star Wars has also given the Lego designers opportunities to say "hang the costs, I'm going to make this set awesome".

well i'm not so keen on getting new themes, really. more themes means smaller themes, limited in time, for let's say 2 years or so... like Vikings... I'd rather have fewer lines but more sets ....

Maybe I contradict myself in the city line because is my favorite one, and I´m 28 years old! and I still live with my mom! hehehehe hmm...ok that was unecessary

I have nothing against SW or batman, but some other movies or themes are more "fresh", maybe with the new batman movie the batman lines is still fresh, but SW?

Anyway I have more crazy ideas oh oh

CITY (did I say it is my favorite line? lol)

Old new york style buildings (Modular style)

An amusement park with a wheel of fortune

A factory

A nwe line: The war of the "blocks"

a theme about a red faction "the legolians" against the "megablockians", the legolians could have red suits, and the megablockians blue suits. with starships, ugly fat minifigs for the megablockians CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT?

hahaha LOL oh my god! hmm please forgive me for that

....damm Megablockians now here in mexico It´s difficult to find lego! but there is a lot of MEGABLOCK! F*"k canada! home of that horrendous thing called MEGA BLK....

Now I have to go to the restroom good night DAMM MEGAB... PUUUUACCKKK

Well Star Wars Lego is probably a huge seller, it would'nt suprise me if it's number 2 after CITY. And besides it's just as fresh as Batman since there's a seventh Star Wars movie, Star Wars: the Clone Wars, being released 15 August. And I do believe that pretty much all SW sets coming out right now is from this new movie.

I would'nt be suprised if they continued to sell Star Wars LEGO way past 2011...

EDIT: Yeah so I forgot "star Wars" in that last sentense. Of course they will sell LEGO beyond 2011. :) If not I would be real sad!

Well, I wouldn't talk about replacing Batman, what possible good theme could come from it, The Batman line is excellent in my opinion.

A cartoon line wouldn't work out, there have also been massive conversations on having LEGO Simpsons, but as far as I can see, there's little chance of having a Fairly Oddparents or Kung Fu line, they are just not made to be put into LEGO.

Now, I would absolutely love to see an Iron Man line or a Avengers line, that'd be awesome!

As for your City ideas, they sound great, maybe you should send in one of those forms CopMike has on the front page.

Watch it - you're walking on thin ice on this comment. We all hate megablocks, but there's no need to act like that.

Yes, I do believe Star Wars is the second biggest line LEGO sells overall, I know its the biggest in the US. Its by far the most successful license LEGO has ever marketed, nearly replacing the Space line altogether (for a while it did). I think SW will be around for a number of years to come, and will continue to be a huge seller for LEGO. In addition to Clone Wars, I hope LEGO will reissue some of the more iconic non-UCS original trilogy sets, such as the X-Wing Fighter, Imperial Tie Fighter and Millenium Falcon at least one more time.

As for Space, although this year's Mars Mission sets are generally better from last year, the line can still use many improvements. Such as different colors, an alien base, and a new improved human base. Although I expect, or at least not be suprised if a new space line were to arrive by next year. Which would be what I would prefer, with new colors (hopefully no orange at all) and a whole new focus.

I somewhat like your city ideas. I think the 7-Eleven would be a cool new modular building, but with that, it would need to be somewhat of a licensed product, coming from a trademarked chain of stores. So maybe like a Midnight Convenience store would be a nice touch. Like a 7-Eleven, just without the name.
