The Middleman Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/LBaixinh...Stuff/7018c.jpg There are good and bad aspects in comparison to what we got. The beards, figs, and serpent are better. The hull and horns are not. The catapults are worse, too. Discuss. Quote
eDeevo Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 The hull looks almost like the old-school ones in the old Pirate Ships... just a unique color... I hope to get my hands on one of these in the future :-D Life is Good. Quote

I hope to get my hands on one of these in the future :-D Life is Good. I repeat: this is a prototype. This is even before the other prototype. Still, I wouldn't mind getting a few prototype beards and some of those KICKASS spikes on the Midgard Serpent... EDIT: Just noticed - the Vikings in the original prototype have NEW SWORDS. Good ones. Damn LEGO skipping out on the swords... Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 There are some good things about this !!!! The swords are better than the crappy KK2 swords, beards, I love that spike net !!!!!!!!! And the serpent looks mean as hell !!!!!! Apart from that nahhhh, TLC's released version is much better ;) Quote
SuvieD Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 The serpent alone would have driven up the cost by at least $30. It uses six or more dinosaur bodies :o . It does look very menacing but LEGO is for 6-12 mostly and so parents might not buy such a scary looking monster. I like the new shields compared to the 3x3 radar dishes. I like the new helmets compared to the huge horned prototypes. I like the new color scheme better than the black boring one. I would have liked to see at least one new double braided beard pattern in a few different colors instead of just prints. The actual set is much better than the prototype except for the serpent. That serpent really does look fabulous. All those spikes and horns. Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I have a quetion: Do any of you Viking experts know which serpent is more correctly represented in LEGO form? The prototype one does look more ferocious. :oo Quote
sam89 Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 The beards and swords are cool, and the serpant is good as well (although I'm not sure I like it as much as the one we've got now). I don't like the ship itself as much though. You can also see a prototype DINO Attack set in that folder. It's pretty much the same except it's got a cage to put the dino in. Quote

languages Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I think the prototype is awsome. I will make one of these soon.....well at least copy the image. I really like the midgard serpent and all the close-ness of the ship. There is no empty space unlike the real viking set.... Quote
MattZitron Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 We need to convince TLC to make those beards! Quote
Cyclonis Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Yes, but Lego has already released all the Vikings sets. Also, they're not going to listen to us anyhow. Ooh and I see a set of rare Lego castle shields. I'm glad they didn't release those :oo I also see a new flame peice at the longboat's mouth. (if that isn't just a drawing) Quote
christopher110 Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 In my opinion, this prototype is much more realistic-looking compared to later prototype and the final model. I like the serpent but I do agree that the price would be very steep. ;) Quote

christopher110 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Yes, but Lego has already released all the Vikings sets. Also, they're not going to listen to us anyhow. Perhaps there'll be Vikings II next year. Let's pray for it. Then, we'll be able to have some nice minifigures with real beard. :P Quote
