I have a mind to try and moc ship cannons for a pirate ship. The reason for this is that the lego cannon that shoots 1 x 1 x 1 round pieces is out of scale. Beyond that, after modding the deck so that cannons can be stationed by the actual cannon housings, its a tight fit if eight cannons are mounted in position. I have seen moc videos, but I would like something larger than 1 x 1 in width.  Ideally, I would like a piece that the 1 x 1 x 1 round would fit inside, like a scope if you will.  Are there pieces like this? Thanks.

One part that 1x1 round brick would fit inside is 2x2 barrell, but it is the same width as cannon base and consequently also wider than cannon tube itself.

Do you plan to moc the entire cannon or do you only need the muzzle to be visible on the outside? In the latter case you can try with tires, this one may be the right size to fit around 1x1 round brick.

There are various pieces slightly thinner, if you think about all the parts used to hold flick missiles. The 2L technic connector can make a reasonable cannon and is available in various metal like colours but won't fit a 1x1 round brick inside.

Yeah I saw a moc with that, thats more like a land based mortar. I would need something akin to 1 and 1/2 circumference.

I do intend to moc the entire cannon, it may not be possible.  This provides inspiration

The one at 4:32 is closet but id like a little wider circumference.

Nope. Only deco pieces like the barrel can be used that way, but they are meant to not be load-bearing. And that kind of seems to be the point: LEGO would likely never do such an element because of stability criteria. There's no way to add reinforcement ridges and such to such thin elements and that is most definitely the dealbreaker for your 1.25 x 1.25 barrel element you seem to be after.

And there is no technic cylinder or anything that could achieve this?  The problem I have with the cannon shooter is mostly lentgh, although I wish the diameter were a little thinner.

Maybe the fork tubes from 42130 BMW bike, they are very easy to disassemble, although they may be a bit large. I don't think any of the other fork tubes would be big enough but I do know they are all pretty easy to disassemble into their respective components.
