Well done! The second one would be good for a shrunk 42144. I think they are still compromises though on the original 42042 as they don’t hold their grab? And then that will start to add size. Anyway I’m just coming up with excuses as to why I couldn’t figure anything like yours out :) For the moment I’m happy with mine as it holds a lot of weight and works really well although you have inspired me to look again at the design… Quote

Thank you, it wasn’t that simple with current parts. The trick was to use the old Steering Arm with Pins which really allowed me to do it. They don’t grab. Just tried in the second model to replace the axle that connects to the universal joint with a blue friction pin and using the top of the first one. It kinda works, but it is a bit difficult to operate. Maybe with a longer control axle and a 12t gear to hold better. I thought on 42006 for the second one. You still have time to try a 4-way I suppose! Quote
MangaNOID Posted August 21, 2023 Author Posted August 21, 2023 (edited) lots of trouble trying to video this and trouble with youtube etc but here is a very lame video that is very long unfortunately. I'm not good at voicing videos but I had very little time to do editing and words and music etc...so had to. I must say that I am very happy with this little crane. its very robust and works really nice in my opinion anyway. I'll try to get an LDD file like I said for anyone that might want to use it. Thirdwigg Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 This is perfect. I love the little handcrank on the rear, and I love the way you recreated the grabbing hook. Great job reducing the size of 42042. Quote
Davidz90 Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 There are many impressive submissions to this contest, but for me this one wins hands down. Quote
MangaNOID Posted August 22, 2023 Author Posted August 22, 2023 thanks You guys! I couldn’t resist trying this in the photo below. Obviously serious stress on the boom and I am operating as counterweight and there is no way the functions will work with so much weight but it is a fun photo for me 😄 the claw works great! Quote
