Duke Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Hello, let me introduce some MOCs and a little background about them. Both of these MOCs are set in the time of the French Revolution and are inspired by the book and subsequent television series entitled 'The Scarlet Pimpernel'. Read more about that HERE. The first of the two vignettes shows the Pimpernel coming to the rescue of two trapped aristocrats in a jail. The rest of the gallery HERE. The second shows more (the same) aristocrats being led to the guillotine, the Pimpernel is hidden in the crowd and ready to act. The rest of the gallery HERE. I hope you enjoy looking at these vignettes, I certainly enjoyed building them I've also made a much larger MOC which is based around the Storming of the Bastille and another vignette to represent Marie Antoinette's famous words "Let them eat cake". These will be photographed and uploaded in due course. (Tomorrow) Quote
The Rancor Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Nice use of the side wedge piece in the guillotine, and the princess in jail These MOCs would be welcome in any Pirate world... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted July 11, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted July 11, 2008 Holy cow, I just love what I'm seeing here Your scenes really bring that revolutionary feeling for me. I feel like starting a new revolution right now... Viva la Republique! I'm looking forward to see more like this Duke. Quote
Tacitus Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Love it! Well done with the generally obscure literature reference, too! Quote
woody64 Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Lovely, I think I remember one hollywood film, which starts with the freeing of some aristocrats (maybe your first scene?) Andreas Quote
Duke Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 Thanks for the positive comments so far everyone, here is another small vignette to represent Marie Antoinette famously saying 'Let them eat cake' when told that the populous had no bread to eat. Unfortunately I made and photographed it a few days ago and as such it's not on a white background like the others. It has also since been destroyed so I can retake the photos. The raised platform is meant to represent a balcony hanging over the scene and the disc in her hand is a cake ;) Also, i've now photographed 'The Storming of the Bastille' but i'm going to post that tomorrow since the event took place on 14th July 1789.. it would be nice to post it on that day since it's close. Governor Mister Phes Posted July 16, 2008 Governor Posted July 16, 2008 Ahhh... The good old French Revolution! You're the first to post a picture of a guillotine MOC - Captain Green Hair has been talking about it for ages but it's a case of the tortoise beating the hare. Allegorically speaking that is! I'm not saying you're a little green reptile that lives in a shell. Now, I'm wondering the best way to present this thread. Loading a thread up with more than one MOC can be dangerous! Quote
