Maximono Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I've been bored with having just the 7897 intercity style train to pull along the models I've been making from the hobby train set so I decided to mod the 7897 loco with one of the trains from the hobby train set. I think it worked quite well bar my lack of lego bricks to fill in the slight gaps left by a longer RC base plate. But at least I have a different RC loco to control! Here's some pics, click to enlarge! View some more of the train on the tracks at my Flickr It was just a bit of fun but I hope you guys like it. Quote
AzMean Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) Hey Maximono I did the same IR conversion with one of the Hobby Models too! BUt urs is definately nicer! The white base fits quite well! here is mine as you can see, the front/back part is too low. almost touching the tracks! But dat was the best i could do.. since i wanted to closely follow the hobby train model. Edited July 8, 2008 by AzMean Quote
Maximono Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 Ah I see what I mean about the drop but it still looks awesome. I've also built that model from the hobby set before, it's in my flickr lego set. The hobby train is defiantly one of if not the best value set I've ever bought! Hope we see some more RC mods posted :) Quote
Eilif Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) Wow, you guys really made the RC train into something nice. It's nice to see that there is hope for that terribly bulky engine assembly. I agree that Hobby train is one of the better sets that TLG has released. I keep intending to build one of the alternate models, but I can't bring myself to take apart the Croc. Let's hope they do a similar set for whatever kind of train follows the RC system. Edited July 8, 2008 by Eilif Quote
highlandcattle Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Good job guys, It makes me want to go out and get the RC trains, the only thing that is keeping me of is that they use so many batteries. Building the modelsfrom the Hobby train box in different colors is also fun to do. Quote
Holodoc Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Very good job! Now wait: I´ve got the hobby train and I´ve got an IR baseplate... Quote
