KirTech LAB Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Hello, my dear friends. Today I'd like to share the model that was built one year ago, this is definitely not my best MOC, but it had some interesting ideas. This is a concept of an autonomous dump truck. The truck doesn't need a driver, so we can remove the cabin and use an extra space to transport more material. Also, since we have no "front" with driver, a number of maneuvers can be reduced, there is no necessity to do 180-degree turns - the truck can just drive in both directions. To make this machine more flexible I added a turntable in the center to have an opportunity for unloading the bin in any directions. Before this large-scale truck I had smaller model, and it had one more feature - the counterweight that compensates the shift of the center of gravity during the unloading process. But in the big model I had some issues with the frame reinforcements, so I decided to exclude this feature. So, this is a weird-looking result: I used 8x8 AWD chassis (6x L-motors, open diffs), 8x8 steering for small turning radius (2x Servo-motor), independent suspension (too stiff, it would be better to use one stiff and one soft shock absorber on each wheel), bin rotation (M-motor, the system like in the crane 42082), two-stage unloading (I think three motors, actuators to move the main mechanism out of a dead point, and the winch to move the main rod). And one more additional feature - automatically opening rear side of the bin, like in real trucks. The model was powered by 3x BuWizz (two in the chassis and one in the superstructure not to route wires through the turntable). You can check the performance in the video: Actually I have not too many photos, because the design was pretty rude :) PS: I've just a bit updated my profile and my YouTube channel, my old nickname is desert752 :) Thanks for watching! Jundis Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Nice ideas here, especially the "dead lift" LAs :D Did you try to use wormgears for the dump bed rotation? Quote

Thank you :) No, I didn't. The central part of the model is pretty dense, I added some additional beams and triangles to make the turntable stable in all positions of the upper structure. The worm reducer would be very useful here :) Quote
