sixf00t4 Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Rather than reinventing the wheel or embarking on a lot of trial and error from scratch - has anyone published their own findings or tips on how to create a break in a train display to enter the center of the display, rather than having to club under tables? Vilhelm22 Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Monty Smith (aka Monty’s Trains) in the USA has a particular impressive opening one which you may be interested in - the LGMS Facebook group is probably the place to find him, or Instagram. I’m in the UK but follow him - contacting him via Instagram or Facebook messenger shouldn’t be difficult. Quote
M_slug357 Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 @sixf00t4 The best way is probably a swing gate. The next best option would be an elevation change that would allow you to duck under (versus crawl). Save Your Knees! Quote

jtlan Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I think it's best to have a layout with a longer perimeter and a smaller area -- something that snakes back and forth. This gives you more train running length, and more visual space for scenery without having to fill all the gaps. It's also easier to reach across the layout to fiddle with it. Unfortunately event organizers often offer up a plain rectangle of space... Quote
