The Marquis: Origins - Chapter 1 - The Interrogation

The story so far:

Chapter 1 - you are here

Interrogator: So you can tell me about the Marquis?

Lady Bonny: Yes.

Interrogator: Everything?

Lady Bonny: Almost, certainly a lot. Let’s see:

When I first met the Marquis, he was just a simple sailor – or was he a first mate? -  arriving at a port in Oleon

His ship was apparently sinking fast and he barely made it to the pier – but he did.

When asked, he gave his name as “Eeek” and so the arrival of Mr. Eeek Smith was documented by the harbour officials.

Then later that day I met him at the poker table in this smoke-filled tavern:

Interrogator (interrupting): Not so fast! I have so many questions before we can come to poker games:

What did he do before he came to Oleon?
     Where is he coming from?
What are the origins of the Marquis???

(to be continued)

next chapter

Lovely, as always. Cool little PotC reference! :pir-grin:

Where is the ladies torso from?

Thanks. And you spotted the (not-so-well-hidden) PoTC reference :pir-huzzah1:

The torso is from: LEGO VIDIYO Bandmates Series 2  (and I bought it on bricklink).

I like the 2 Pirates of the Caribbean photos. Kiera Nightly was also on Pirates of the Caribbean.

I noticed the 2 glasses with liquids. Very well done.

The marquis clearly came from Eslandola to Oleon when he made it to the pier...

I'm guessing how Oleon is involved in this ? There is a lot to discover !

The tavern is greatly rendered ! Do they play Pnences and Pnounds ? :pir-classic:

Thanks - as this is a journey into the past, noone has yet heard of Pnences and Pnounds.

Also the Oleon Inquisition would not have such nonsense! :pir-laugh:

The smoky tavern idea is really neat.  I'm not sure I've seen anyone try to do that in LEGO before!  Also I love the Pirates of the Caribbean reference. :pir-laugh:

Thanks. Poker is a very popular card game around the brick seas. Which is a bit surprising as in our world poker came to the US through French settlers in New Orleans in 1829...

I've been preparing the Marquis' storyline since January. I am glad that you like it  :sweet:

Indeed. We made our own mint a while back, and I don't recall pnences and pnounds being on the schedule.

You might want to double-check :pir-laugh:

But wait: Hey, there is still someone from UK following my stories!  I thought that after "Boring Johnson" and "Pnounds and Pnence" I had been banned from the islands :pir_laugh2:

I think I am the first one to try to do indoor-smoke.  However, I am not so sure whether the approach is successful :pir-grin:
