tin7_creations Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 As I said on my last post, I will be making more headpieces for my Disney minifig project, and here they are: Tigger, Stitch, Tarzan, Ariel. Tigger and Stitch: Front View: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tin7/2619275085/ Back View: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tin7/2620099716/ Overall, the Tigger turned out better than I expected, and the Stitch head is quite the abomination. I'll probably try remaking it sometime in the near future. Ariel and Tarzan: Front View: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tin7/2620098034/ Back View: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tin7/2620098608/ These are just the hair pieces, they need to be painted though, Sculpey changes colour after hardening, so they aren't in the colours that I intended. Remember that these are just the hair/head pieces, the torsos and legs will be modified as my Bricklink order arrives. Also, sorry for having to click the links to view the pictures, I'm still having problems with posting images. Thanks, feedback appreciated. Quote
iamded Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 These are looking great, tin7! Tigger is my favourite out of this bunch, mainly because I love tigers, and orange. They all look wonderful though! ~Peace Quote
BlueBard Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Funny! I really like your Tarzan, specially the use of these legs Quote
Shoc Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Once again these are nice moldings, but why is the Sculpey slightly white speckled? It's never done that with me before... Hmm... I'd love to see the finished figures, anyway. :skull: Quote

Lt. Col. Thok Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Very nice- I like how you've used the construction jacket for tigger. Quote
Norrington Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 You are great! You should try my favorite animated Disney charcter of all: Mr. J. Thaddeus Toad, Esq. from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. I'd love to see that collar in 3D! Quote
tin7_creations Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 You are great! You should try my favorite animated Disney charcter of all: Mr. J. Thaddeus Toad, Esq. from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. I'd love to see that collar in 3D! That head would be quite easy to sculpt, but I always thought that the collar should be included in the torso decal. Tell you what, I'll give it a try, you might see it within the next 2 weeks. Right now I'm pretty busy, currently working on Roger Rabbit, Chip/Dale, Goofy. And in addition, I want to make a mold for the Mickey Mouse head I did a while back, then cast it in resin. However, I have no idea how to make a mold, so if anyone can provide me with a tutorial, or some steps it would be appreciated. Thanks! Quote

I'd love to see that collar in 3D! Oh, that is a lovely idea! As a matter of fact, it's so good, I went ahead and made a torso, just in case our good fellow decides to try it! Of course, it required a bit of adjustment for minifig scale and to account for that large head which should overhang the torso a bit, but I think it came out quite well for being so fast. Compare! (decal is a thumbnail, of course) vs I'm a little concerned with the colour selection, given the faded quality of the source, but they would be easily changed. I actually think the collar could be done in the same way that LEGO did the one for the vampire figure, simple a cape in reverse. Quote

Shadows Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 you're right, i'll try that... however, i don't know how to customize the fabric, i might have to ask around. Since it doesn't have to be as stiff as the normal capes, I would imaging that you could find a comparable fabric and just use the same method as LEGO, a slit in the middle, two holes, and let the natural fold hold it upright. Good luck! As a side note... that's the best damn decal I've ever made in 20 minutes or less. It really is. Quote
Norrington Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Wow. That was fast. I'm thinking I should do one for Toad, as he is depicted in other outfits (but only in pictures in books and around his house, he's allways wearing the same thing) Here's an illustration I did of Toad's head and shoulders: I'm assuming you guys are Disney fans, in which I assume you are familiar with Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at DL and formerly at WDW? I live in Vancouver, I've only been to Disneyland 3 times, I know I've been on the ride, I just don't remember which of my 3 visits, and I don't exactly remember much about the ride either. Quote
Shadows Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Here's an illustration I did of Toad's head and shoulders: That's very nicely done! I can't actually draw animals at all (or people for that matter). If Fabuland had ever included a frog... just imagine. Did you see SlyOwl's Fabuland rendition of Ratty's? I'm assuming you guys are Disney fans, in which I assume you are familiar with Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at DL and formerly at WDW? Living in the backyard of WDW, I'm more than familiar with it, and I still despise the idiots who ripped it out. The one park with all the room in the world, and they remove one of the best rides for Winnie the Pooh... Quote

The one park with all the room in the world, and they remove one of the best rides for Winnie the Pooh... Wow, backyard of WDW, it's like my dream to live even remotely near any Disney. The closest I ever got to living near a Disneyland was during the summer in Hong Kong, and even then, it was a 90 minute bus ride from home to park. It's one of the cons of living in Vancouver, all you get is forest, forest and more forest... not even a theme park. Quote

Funny running into someone who feels that exact same way. 20k and Toad, last of Fantasyland's best. Snow White and Peter Pan: Meh. They aren't even taken care of that well. It's funny that DL praises it's opening day attractions, keeping them around and giving them gold plauqes, but WDW wither rips them out after 2 years of protesting, or shuts it down unexpectedly, lets it rot for 10 years, and then puts a playground over it. tin7_creations Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 Actually, I've decided to put Roger Rabbit on hiatus, and start on Mr. Toad. Can you provide me with a bigger picture of him? Since Mr. Toad has never been a meet & greet character @ DL, I don't have a picture of the character helmet, so I have to start from scratch. Quote
Norrington Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 (edited) Ok. I have a few digital, but I\'ll to find my camera to get pictures of my numerous drawings and 2 paintings of Toady. (I need one of those statues) Edited June 30, 2008 by Norrington Quote

Norrington Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 oh, preferably some front, back and side views Front, you're covered. I have some side veiws I've done, but you're out of luck with back. Maybe I'll whip some up. But tell you what, you should rent the DVD of Ther Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and I garuntee you'll have most of what you need. Thid weathervane from DL's Wild Ride shows a fairly good side veiw: Edit: It won't let me post the picture, but here's a link to the site it's on. Some good photos of DL's too: http://davelandweb.com/mrtoad/ Quote

Norrington Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 (edited) Funny thing is, I've been thinking of doing that (just with the vastly superior WDW version). I was thinking that you should also do Miole and Rat. (From Mickey's Christmas Carol. Toad was in it too, as Fezziwg) Edited June 30, 2008 by Norrington Quote

I would pay for heads of Rat, Mole, Toad, and possilby MacBadger i think it's possbile, i've read some tutorials online, but they aren't very clear, so i'm scared that even if i follow the instructions clearly, i might end up screwing up and ruining the original sculpey piece. it takes about 2 hours to make one... so if it gets ruined in the mold making process, that's 2 hours wasted. i want to make molds... cuz i made a mickey mouse head, and i seriously don't want to repeat the same thing to make minnie mouse, so i want to make a mold of that, then add a bow. same for donald/daisy, chip/dale... but i need some very straightforward tutorials. i think people make molds out of silicone though.
