Jurss Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 (edited) Finish at the first post on second page. Somehow today I realised, that I wan't to build a grader Some hour I looked at grader pictures, some videos about functions. After another hour I have front axle, which has 3 functions - steering (of course), swinging suspension and leaning front wheels. Everything will be manual with some wormgears and linear actuators, with operation close to that function. Every other common function also is planned (moving to sides, rising/lowering each side, leaning, tilting, rotating) for blade and scarifier . Also frame articulation is planned. So, everything :) At least, that is the plan. Edited September 5, 2022 by Jurss Quote
1gor Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 If you could have those in yellow it would be great https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=31794&idColor=3#T=C&C=3 I'll follow this topic with interest. Quote

Jurss Posted April 3, 2022 Author Posted April 3, 2022 I only have 2 now, so, to have to more, I need to buy CAT So, some two more hours, and I have this More progress, most probably will be next weekend Quote
Jundis Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 Looks very good, especially the steering mechanism! Do you have full steering angle even when the axle is angled/oscillated? :-) Do you have enough space on the middle actuator so position the gear on the side via bevel gears? Would be in better reach as imho. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 I agree, the steering mechanism is very good. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Very cool. These machines have some many functions, so they make a perfect Technic MOC. It's looking great so far @Jurss. Quote

With geared connection or similar, it would be possible. Maybe I need to switch to chain or something. 12 hours ago, Jundis said: Do you have enough space on the middle actuator so position the gear on the side via bevel gears? I think yes. This is really WIP, so everything can change. Main problem is, that blade angle adjustment now is incorrect. It works correct way only when turntable is not rotated. When it is turned, then it is not correct anymore. This was first option that came just during build process. But it seems, that I will need to think about something proper. If there won't be anything compact or usable, that is more proper, then I will go with this. 3 hours ago, Thirdwigg said: Very cool. Thank You! Yes, I wanted to build something technical, but not also too complex. But this is still really challenging. Quote
Johnny1360 Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Very ambitious project, good luck. I have always liked road graders and have attempted several over the years, so I can appreciate what you are up against. Looking good so far and I will be following with great interest. Quote
Jurss Posted April 6, 2022 Author Posted April 6, 2022 Yesterday had some time Changed steering "linkage" to chain, so it always work in full range Changed connection of main articulators for height, now they have better angle range Started to think of articulation to sides Is this even legal? Quote

Jurss Posted April 6, 2022 Author Posted April 6, 2022 Yes, gear is also possible. Use case is different question. Quote

2GodBDGlory Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I don't think it's going to be legal, but I know I've done it with the similar 64589 connector! Quote
GerritvdG Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Really interesting project and a nice scale, not to big, but big enough to fit all those interesting functions! Quote
Johnny1360 Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Indeed, random question, what sort of steering ratio do you have now? Quote
Jurss Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 If I understood question correctly, then it needs half turn of axle now from end to end. Replaced parts on front axle, also grey worm gear replaced with black. Quote
Jurss Posted April 30, 2022 Author Posted April 30, 2022 As lime grader for TC22 is in fact finished, returned to this, larger one. Added linear actuator for blade side swing Rised by one stud front axle, so that it is possible to really rise blade. Also front part is almost finished Quote
Jurss Posted May 7, 2022 Author Posted May 7, 2022 Some progress. There are even some changes on front part, but didn't took specific pictures Quote
Jurss Posted June 19, 2022 Author Posted June 19, 2022 Made already cabin with all steering controls, but then realised, that I have issue - front part is connected one stud too low. That means new challenges connecting steering axle and also articulated steering actuators Quote
Philtech Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Great project! I will follow this topic with a lot of interest. Quote
