Fgo Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Hallo, I am not really sure if this is the right section for my question, if not please move it. I want to build a Moc in the scale 1:8. For this I want to use the Hub with Brake Disc (35189), to make it look more realistic. But I want to use wheels from the Porsche (23800). I know it does not work directly because there are no pins on the hubs or wheels. Now I tried to use 3 Technic Pins instead on my Bugatti and put the Porsche Wheels on it, but I had to see that it does not work. They are to short and the Long Technic Pins are to long. Is there a solution for this Problem or have I really to decide, Brake Discs or Porsche Wheels? I hope everthing is understandable and somebody can help me. Quote
Gray Gear Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 I encountered this same problem a good while ago. There is no solution to make this work. The Porsche wheels were not made to work with the brake disc hubs, and while you can kind of fix them with 3L Pins you still end up with a different offset which will make it very diffcult to achieve good fitment. SNIPE Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 (edited) The solution is to put some 3L pins in the disc brake but where the stopper rings are at the wheel end, this gives 1L gap between the wheel and disc brake but at least the pins are not too far in or out of the wheels pin holes. So in other words, the pin stoppers go to the wheel end, not the disc brake end. The orientation of 3L pins matters sometimes. You can use blue / black 3L friction pins or tan / light gray frictionless pins. I reccomend 3L friction pins in black. Edited March 19, 2022 by SNIPE Quote
Gray Gear Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 @SNIPE I just tried this, and while it seems to work I don't feel this solution is advisable either. Its like a car running on massive wheel spacers: Very bad steering geometry and a lot of additional strain for the wheel hubs. Personally I'd recommend to use the Disc brakes and buy a set of Sian wheels. Quote
Fgo Posted March 20, 2022 Author Posted March 20, 2022 Thanks for this info. Of course not what I wanted to hear. The 3L friction Pin is no option for, because in that case the Wheels stand too far out of the fenders. And to modify the position of fenders is not planned. Quote
