A droid from the Jedi: Fallen Order videogame, which a designer claimed a while ago was too mature for sets to be based on  And now that this argument is out the window, tandnbricks has claimed other statements like this for other themes will be challenged as well.

The issue is that we don‘t know which theme(s) he’s referring to here

Apparently, there was a car people requested that TLG said they couldn‘t do and now they‘re releasing it  I guess this is all tandnbricks was referring to 

My personal guess would be a Ford Explorer from Jurassic Park, because I remember a designer making a statement about why they couldn‘t release one.

@BacktoBricks, so once we have those details ^{(for technicals purposes only)} do we: 

• stick to purchasing still more HP lego (and if so, which of the new sets?)
• venture into other themes (and if so which themes?)
• or *gasp* expand our horizons to include non-ABS purchases? (I have no idea what that includes anymore.  Lockdown was so perfectly suited to lego-ing...)

 

ETA: In general, we really don't seem to be doing that poorly with the info presently known for HP lego. So many other themes haven't even got piece counts or prices yet. https://www.stonewars.de/lego-2022/

My FOMO dictates I not wait too long to purchase the March wave sets but I must wait for a decent GWP or discount before biting the bullet.  I snagged all the Moments sets last year right away from Target with only their 5% redcard discount only to have the 20% discounts show up a couple of months later.  I hesitated on the Day 1 scramble to see them sell out at lego.com within an hour.

So I’m seeing a lot of people getting excited over the announcement of Jedi Fallen Order sets because the age rating of the source material would support the idea that we will get DH sets eventually, but I’m not seeing anyone mention the other significant development. 
 

Jedi Fallen Order is a video game. 
 

Which begs the question of if we might eventually see sets of the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy game or (please please please) Hogwarts Mystery. 
 

Personally, I really hope this is an avenue that could lead to Hogwarts Mystery content, since there are quite a few characters from the books that didn’t make the cut in the movies but have ‘canon’ appearances in Hogwarts Mystery.

To be fair, as much as that would be interesting, Jedi Fallen Order has gotten much more hype and fanbase than, to the best of my knowledge, Hogwarts Mystery. Also, Fallen Order has a confirmed sequel, which makes it more worthwhile. Also, it's a lot easier to make a set of a cool droid that also appears in other SW content (assuming that's all we get) than some full characters and sets from a game like HM, which is a little less well known.

I mean, as someone who really isn’t in the Star Wars fandom I’m only vaguely aware that Fallen Order exists, so we should keep in mind that hype and fanbase can be hard to gauge if you’re not a social media expert with a fancy algorithm in front of them. 
 

Also, I specifically mentioned Hogwarts Mystery because, unlike the upcoming Legacy game, it actually features several characters that appeared in the books but not the movies, meaning that it would be pretty easy for Lego to make Hogwarts Mystery sets that would be able to appeal to a large portion of Harry Potter fans even if they didn’t play the mobile game. For instance, a Moments style set for History of Magic with Professor Binns, Charlie Weasley, and young Tonks would make a lot of fans happy to have a chance to complete the Weasley family, and History of Magic and Binns feature enough in the books that the only Harry Potter fans who would be confused about him would be the ones who had exclusively watch the movies and not consumed any other content. 
 

Another thing to keep in mind - so far as I know, Camp Cretaceous (the Netflix cartoon) has never had a massive amount of hype about it either, but Lego still put the six main characters in Jurassic World sets last year.

Considering they basically included Doris Crockford and Dedalus Diggle in the Accessory Set last year (even if unnamed) I'd say they aren't adverse to including background witchards, which I think is pretty cool. It's nice to be able to expand the universe. I'd hope we don't get a teen version of Charlie, though, as he'd probably be indistinguishable from Ron. I'm still hoping for adult versions of him and Bill.

There’s a difference between a character that’s be consigned to the background of a movie scene (like Fortescue and Sinestra) and a character that’s been cut from the movies entirely though.

 The Hogwarts Mystery version of Charlie wears his hair in a short ponytail, so he’d be as noticeably different as any of the other Weasley brothers. And while I think there’s a good chance of getting Bill when/if we get DH sets, Charlie never actually appeared in the movies, so our best bet of seeing him might be Hogwarts Mystery sets.

There is like no chance LEGO makes anything based on this video game being discussed. Zero.

LEGO has before and will continue to make sets based on popular Star Wars video games. Force Awakens. Old Republic. New Battlefront II. Now Fallen Order. Videogames have been a big part of Star Wars fandom for a long time now, and have absolutely gigantic marketing pushes.

Them making sets based on dark material from another property also says nothing about what the current Harry Potter team feels like creating for the Harry Potter line. Different properties, different targets. They're making Star Wars set based on the scene where Bib Fortuna gets shot point blank in cold blood. Doesn't mean the Harry Potter team is suddenly going to make the Voldemort dinner scene with Professor Burbage.
