Jurss Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Was thinking what to do with small tractor tyres (OK, I started some time agos also mini xerion, but still can't find best solution), and then this started Most probably, it will be fully manual. At the moment suspension has the same setup as on orginal - front fixed, rear axles are swinging. No differentials on axles, maybe there will be that middle differential, if will find really space for it, as front axle is really close to it. With differentionals on axles there would be bad clearence. Cabin won't be in that specific blues color, as I don't have panels in that color. Hasn't desided yet which color I will use. Quote
nerdsforprez Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Actually, I think this is a great idea! Though I do think it would be great to keep it motorized if possible just to maintain fidelity to the original. Quote
pleegwat Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Since you seem to be using 5x7 frames and pendular suspension, you should be able to fit differentials inside there, at least for the rear axles? If you use the 'old' differentials (which drive from a 20z) you should also be able to drive them from above with an 8z gear, and avoid the drive axle also supporting the pendular suspension. I don't think the same is possible with the new 'heavy-duty' differentials though. Quote
Jurss Posted August 22, 2021 Author Posted August 22, 2021 Yea, but because of all differentials original was not usable on offrod at all. So, I'm trying to correct this mistake :) Quote
Jundis Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Great potential :-) I really like the idea to make a model just as big as it has to be, not a fan of this build where trucks have the 107 tires and are just an empty shell. Also, this would make a great contest: Shrink down an older model to at least 1/2 of the original size ;-) Quote
Jurss Posted August 22, 2021 Author Posted August 22, 2021 Trying to fit steering This is some 3 attempt. Then ai realised, that somewhere there should be crankshaft for fake engine, so that engine is not too high. Some view from bottom Quote
Jurss Posted August 25, 2021 Author Posted August 25, 2021 I think I found a solution for steering It will have limited steering agle, as it needs to cope also with crankshaft and some other things. Anyway, as I still not figured out how to connect engine crankshaft axle to differential, everything still can change. Quote
Jurss Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 Few months has gone, tried to motorise this chassis But there is almost no space for motors (I need to put crane somewhere), and no space att all for orginal battery, it is out of all dimensions. Maybe somehow with that 9V battery. But still those motors with all connections are in the way of everything then. Maybe I could remove possible fake engine? Still not shure. But maybe will just get back to manual version. Also, with that gearing, it is still much too fast. So, to motorise this, there then should be somewhere put some additional downgearing. Built original from parts I have to copare sizes. Quote

I love this guy! His mocs are so small yet functional! Quote
