Yoggington Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Bricklink had the prices up for Series 8 earlier today. I can't see them any more, is it just me? For the record, US prices were as below, but it's Euro prices I'm looking for Spoiler Brick Railroad Locomotive - 1,428 Pieces - $119.99 Coconut Cape - 2425 Pieces - $209.98 Dustmark Keep - 4,000 Pieces - $349.99 University of Science - 3,995 Pieces - $359.99 Hot Air Balloon - 876 Pieces - $79.99 Quote

Yoggington Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Interesting, must have been an error. They were certainly there at one stage! A bit steeper than I was hoping for. As much as I thought this might be a multi-purchase round, maybe I'll be just getting the balloon. Quote
RichardGoring Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Yes, that feels on the high side, but so many of them are large models. Will be interesting to see the finalized designs. Quote

icm Posted May 4 Posted May 4 The price, parts count, and minifig count of Coconut Cape is very similar to the Eldorado Fortress. I'm looking forward to getting it as the "Eldorado Fortress" to go with the Fortuna. I like it quite a bit better than the actual Eldorado Fortress set. It's a cleaner build, it's more modular so it's easier to build and rebuild, and it's not hampered by the need to brick-build an old raised baseplate. Quote
hikouki Posted May 7 Posted May 7 (edited) Aren't the next BDP sets going on sale the second week or so of this coming June? I wonder if sales will be slower, considering we will be having a lot of much-awaited mainstream Lego releases on June 1st. Edited May 7 by hikouki Quote
Wolfpack Posted May 8 Posted May 8 It is same as each year. Series 5 were scheduled at the exact same time and had the all-time record selling set of 49.000. I think this series will sell out like the last one. It might even have the opposite problem, as it has strong contenders. If all the sets will be trending fine, there might be no space for adjusting the allocations. So far there has been no correlation between sales and the calendar. Quote
icm Posted May 11 Posted May 11 My ratings - all projects not mentioned below are "Not For Me". I was going to rate the Pirate Galleon Revenant and the Royal Sovereign Treasure Galleon as "Love It" until I saw the Armada Galleon Esperanza. The Revenant and the Royal Sovereign are recycled from previous BDP rounds, but Esperanza is new for this round, is by the maker of the Privateer Frigate Fortuna, and is more historically accurate than Revenant or Royal Sovereign. I'm looking forward to pre-ordering Coconut Cape and Hot Air Balloon next month. $210 and $80 are about what I'd expect to pay for those sets as good prices if they were made through the usual Lego process, so it's a little disappointing that they aren't lower through BDP, but they're still very reasonable prices for those two. RichardGoring Posted May 12 Posted May 12 There are so many designs in series 11. It feels like the quality isn't there from some of the previous ones though. I've voted for a total of 29 projects from 21 creators. I thought [Dinosaur Dig Site] [BrickLink] was very neat and I loved the outline of the fossil dig site being a dinosaur footprint! [THE COBBLER WORKSHOP] [BrickLink] is really fun and I think my children would love to play with it more than most castle-ish type buildings (but maybe a bit less than a full castle). And [The Elven Palace of Equestrian Myths] [BrickLink] is so majestic! The shaping with the curves, slopes, panels, and botanical pieces is excellent. Still love the [Lunar Horizons: The Artemis Era] [BrickLink] lunar map and while it's probably more elegant than the original submission, it doesn't come across as whimsical, I think [My Moon My Artemis] [BrickLink] is beautiful. Lyichir Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Just browsed through myself. Not a lot jumped out at me, but there were a few highlights: The Sunset Hotel from previous series has been rebranded as the Paradisa Hotel, with a color scheme befitting the classic theme. I've seen a couple Paradisa-related projects but this is my favorite—it absolutely nails the sun-bleached, glitzy aesthetic, but with modern design sensibilities. It's often harder for smaller projects to get support (contributing to the high price tag of your typical BDP set), but I love the look of Le Petit Bouquet. A gorgeous looking little build with unique Parisian set dressing (including an iconic advertising post and metro entrance). Apart from that I didn't see a lot that interested me too much. Very little has really captured my heart in BDP since the whimsical Mushroom House and Mushroom Village—so many projects either seem designed to augment an existing theme (often in a very expensive package) or are more creative but lack the polish that would get me to stomach the high price tag. Yoggington Posted Saturday at 11:25 PM Posted Saturday at 11:25 PM I gave 13 'Love It's this time round, which is higher than usual. Unsure if the quality is better or if I'm getting less picky. The Sunset Hotel, Equestrian Elven Palace & Le Petit Bouquet mentioned above also made my faves reel. I think the Training Ground is once again the best of the medieval sets. I found one to rival it in 'Kingsburgh: Village fair', then realised it's the same designer for both. He's obviously got a style I like. As medieval sets go, there's a distinct charm to the smaller Pageant Wagon set. Look at those little stage props <3 A little more mid-range, but the Crossroads Stable is great too (although suffers from a poor choice for the cover image) In the Pirates category, I am very drawn to Dreadspire Isle - there's something chaotic in here that reminds me of my 90s pirates sets, in a way that the more polished AFOL submissions don't. It's got all the play features. ALL OF THEM. Like, why has no-one put bananas in a tree before? Now there's a whole monkey plotline brewing. We've a few definitely-not-a-modular hospitals in the running, and the redbrick 'General Hospital' would be my preference. Great colours. And some clever overall shaping to make it look a lot bigger than it's 4000 bricks. A fantastic smaller set, the Vintage Omnibus would fit the aesthetic of most modular towns. (Chekc out that compact spiral stair, *chef's kiss*) And not really in a traditional category for me, but the other three 'Love It's I gave; Mech Knight - big dumb fun. Globe mini - a stocking filler of sorts. Might not go out of my way for it, but if I was already buying something in the wave, I'd pick this up. Crimson Pagoda - great colour use, nice shaping and parts - a really clean standalone piece for a side table or something. Quote
