Thomas Waagenaar Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 (edited) As King's Port was in shambles, and Westface wasn't sure which direction it wanted to go. A group of loggers have set out into the forest just outside of Westface. Settling near a small but rapid creek, they started clearing the area and laying the foundation for a small sawmill. Construction of the roof is still on the way but they are ready to start logging any day now! These logs and planks would be used for construction in both Westface and Kings Port, to aid the reconstruction of the cities. Small Sawmill Front-left viewSmall Sawmill Rear-right viewSmall Sawmill Waterwheel and sawblade Waterwheel design in the spoiler: Spoiler Full credit to the waterwheel design goes to 'Miro Dudas'. As I tried for many hours but just couldn't come up with a good and decently small waterwheel design until I came across his design. I'll definitely use this in the future too!Water Wheel Tutorial by Miro Dudas, on Flickr OOC: I never expected this to be my first post to BOBS as I honestly haven't even started with my own SigFigs story... But I've been working non-stop on my ship (That as this point has gone way over budget, woops) and wanted to do something else for a change. Digital only as I simply do not have the bricks or budget to build anything non-story related in real bricks, sadly. So all my future things will be a mix between real life and digital too. Everything you see here is fully viable and buildable using real bricks. No fake-colours and unrealistic techniques have been used, as it's all pretty much straight forward of build.  It is a 32x32 terrain, so it would licensable as a medium factory. I only called it "small" since it's small for a sawmill in my opinion. But such are the BoBS rules :P. Ayrlego Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 That's a really great looking sawmill - a subject I have been thinking about for sometime! I like the rundown look of the roof and slightly overgrown appearance. Maybe a few minifigs would make it look a bit more lively - at first I thought it was abandoned! Very nice work and great first build for BoBS! Quote

Very nice work and great first build for BoBS! Thanks! I'd love to add mini's but I don't really know how to add them properly digitally 😅. And to be honest, an abandoned sawmill being brought back to life works just as well story-wise, so that isn't much of an issue either ^^  53 minutes ago, caiman0637 said: Nice build! NOD Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Well-built sawmill with a water wheel. It sounds familiar to me, at the beginning I also had this problem. Digitally you have to assemble the minifigures from individual parts first. A minifigure consists of 8 individual parts. Quote

Sounds do-able, albeit rather time consuming. Will definitely have to experiment making some basic minifigs in the future! Quote
blackdeathgr Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Great build! Keep up the good work, be it physical or digital one! Quote
