jonfett Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 I was browsing eBay today and came accross this auction. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...5985375932&rd=1 Lego 2 skeleton minifigs Star Wars Dead Owen and BeruNow you can recreate that memorable scene from Star Wars Episode VI A New Hope, where Luke returns home to find his dead uncle Owen and aunt Beru gently smouldering in front of their burnt-out homestead with these two Lego skeleton minifigures. Alternatively I'm sure they would make great additions to any Lego castle sets or pirate scenes. This is a little over the top description, but it seems to have worked as the seller got Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Hey that is a clever way to sell figs. I would not have thought that that one would have worked though :/ Quote
DoubleT Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Hmm i just think somepeople just are too grotesk with Lego.. Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Looooooooooooooooooooooooooool Tks Jon for this !!!!!!! People are soooo stupid it works !!!! Are you sure this is not better in the humour forum ?? :D Also Jon you should edit the title of this thread to add in the second line "And dumb Ebay buyers" :D Quote
gylman Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Remarkably, there were 4 different suckers (oops, I mean bidders). However, I note that the high bidder was an eBay newbie, as was one other. Gyl Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 11, 2005 Governor Posted July 11, 2005 I have seen them... But I never thought to make note of them but next time I see one I'll post it right here. I've seen some sellers tell little stories behind the sets and mini-figures, or give them titles. E.g for Imperial Guards "Napoleonic Troops", skeletons with pirate hats "Undead Crew". Those Napoleonic Troops with a few horses and accessories thrown in sold for over US$100... Quote
Centaur Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Yah. Look at this one. Theyre calling it the Headless horsemans horse, when all it is is a horse with a mask on it. lol. and $11.99! Quote
eDeevo Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I suppose we can refer to them as 'clever' if you can accept the fact that these people are manipulating others who are unfamiliar with LEGO... because they are typically extremely overpriced... although, some are pretty creative (aka the dead Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru ;) ) Life is Good. Robbery should only be done from the sea. However, they do have quite a few interesting custom mini-figures... Devil Wolf Man Cylclops Centaur For more see the Creature Factory eBay Store? Quote
Centaur Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 (edited) There is actually a topic about this store in Buy Sell Trade & Finds. There are some neat ones like the Kit Fisto and the Woobaca, but theyre not that neat for the price theyre asking. Its amazing that people can be fooled into buying stuff like this (not the real customs, the Dead Owen and Beru and the Headless Horsemans Horse). Edit: YAY!!! 60 POSTS!!! Edited July 14, 2005 by Centaur Quote
eDeevo Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 They also had one called the "Phantom Pirate", of which I found quite interesting... & yes, their prices actually make their customs look worse... mainly because they are asking outrageous prices... :-D Life is Good. Quote
