thanks @Feuer Zug! there were two types of cars, the ones i replicated seem to be a newer style, and are really smooth irl aswell, there isnt a lot of detail there. the older ones would have had much more detail, but i couldnt find a good picture. might need to search for the soviet narrow gauge trains topic, as the older style ones were also used in the soviet union.

I don't know if anyone can help. But I've been looking for a MOC I saw maybe a year or so ago that dated back to around 2007 - 2009 or so?

It was a 4 wide train featuring a large gold rush style layout, big mountains train was motorised and travelled through tunnels. Train was pulling coal carts I think. I remember reading a blog about the creation of it and how the train ran on part 3743 and how the wheels 50254 was modified to accept a technic axle.

I also did find a video on YouTube of it running but I can't for the life of me find it now. I can't even remember how I came across it in the first place. Now I'm questioning whether it exisited or not. I've literally spent the last 8 hours searching everywhere I can think of but I can't just seem to find it. Anyone know what I'm on about?

Main reason I wanted to find it was to add it to this playlist I've been collating of motorised narrow gauge/4 wide Lego trains, thought it might be useful:

Found the MOC

Hi everyone I'm new I wanted to share my 40518 4 wide set motorized on trixbrix track with circuit cubes and custom wheels from brekland bricks. I'm pretty happy with the way the wheels are powered but still allow for the train boogie to swing around, there's really not much space in that set.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the start of the SNCF TGV service linking Paris and Lyons, Europe's first high speed rail service.

To mark this, I have revisited my 4-wide tiny TGV design and given it an update using some new parts and techniques to represent one of the TGV PSE (Paris Sud-Est) sets that operated this service in the original orange, white and grey livery.
