CastleBeachFire Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Engine 17’s latest apparatus previously served as Engine 1. The 2019 Seagrave Marauder II will replace a 2005 Seagrave Commander which will be transferred to the training academy. Fleet management redid the graphics on the apparatus prior to being placed in service. Engine 17 also features the latest “1” series spec, which moved away from the medical compartment directly behind the cab. Instead, the first compartment was made larger to accommodate extra equipment. In addition, anchor points were added to assist with technical rescue incidents. On the streetside of the apparatus, the first compartment contains the engineer’s equipment such as the SCBA, hose fittings, and wrenches. The other compartments stores forcible entry tools, the Holmatro EVO 3 Combi tool, and the K12 saw. The rear of the apparatus shows my newest hosebed design. The biggest challenge was creating the dividers without utilizing the typical short panels that most use. I wish LEGO would diversify their panels/fence parts, but having said that, it was fun to figure out alternative methods to the hosebed. The hosebed stores 750’ of 4” LDH and 750’ of 2.5” attack hose. Additional hoses are stored on the crosslay area and the compartments. The new spec also increased available compartment space for wildland gear, which used to be stored at the station until it was needed. When deployed, the equipment was placed anywhere there was free space, which sometimes included the cab. But now, having a dedicated space to the packs would increase efficiency and quicker response times. Traffic indicators were also placed on both sides and the rear to help direct traffic during MVA responses. Due to an ever increasing amount of medical emergencies, the apparatus committee, along with the EMS division, expanded the equipment cache for the primary engine companies, hence the move to the allocate a larger space for EMS gear. Some of the new gear includes tactical vests, respirators, and extra cleaning supplies for COVID-19 decontamination. Other gear stored on the curbside of the apparatus include high-rise hose packs, hazmat meters and spill control, and the wildland packs. Engine 17 serves the Pacific Heights district of Castle Beach, where a large number of residential developments are taking place. Four firefighters staff Engine 17 on a daily basis. The NightScan PowerLite device illuminates even the darkest scene! Castle Beach Fire Department has updated Engine 17 to this 2019 Seagrave Marauder II triple combination which formerly served as Engine 1. Engine 17’s previous rig, a 2005 Seagrave Commander triple, will then be moved to the training academy. Engine 17 also showcases the updated “1” series spec. The biggest change to the design is the removal of the medical compartment from just behind the cab to now having a full compartment on the officer’s side dedicated to advanced life support gear. With the rise of different kinds of medical emergencies, CBFD is taking measures to stay prepared for any emergency! Engine 17 serves the Pacific Heights region and sees roughly 9 calls a day. deraven Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 This looks great, especially for a 6(+)-wide design! The compartment and hose bed designs are very well done. Quote

Feuer Zug Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Superb work on Engine 17. You've packed a lot of detail in a small space. The side mount pump panel details are stunning. Quote
