The Penguin Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) Here is a collection of my castle characters versions. I thought that it would be boring if I just show them, so here's a small tale: I guess, not many of you, ladies and gentlemen, know that The Good King had two daughters: the elder one was serious and brave (Let's call her Kathrene) and the younger one was light-minded and always got into different unpleasant situations.... He also had a second wife named Alexis who was cold-hearted and mean woman. After the Great War against hordes of Evil Wizard's skeletons an orcs the Kingdom had several years of peace.... But then, the Good King died to the grief of the entire country: The Crown and the Kingdom should have been inherited by the elder daughter but the Evil Queen tried to usurp the power: However she was banished from the Kingdom.... .... and swore to make her revenge! She allied with the powerful Lich, who overthrew the Evil Wizard and was now the supreme ruler of the East. The conflict was inevitable and now the Kingdom had to prepare for war! Queen Kathrene and the dwarves were ready to fight side by side: The Lich meanwhile allied with the ever-war-hungry orcs: The War is about to start! Bonus pictures: The Lich: The Dwarf King: The Orc King: Yours faithfully, Penguin-The-Eternal: P.S. Dear moderators, could you, please, correct my misprint in the title of the topic? Thanks! ) Edited June 6, 2008 by The Penguin Quote
Batbrick Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Wow! Great stuff The Penguin, I especially love your Orc King and rather Adventurous ( ) Evil Queen! I like your simple story too, it really spices up the whole thing. The Dwarf King is a good idea too as we already get two gold crowns for them (another in the advent calender) thus making the gold winged helmet void as a king, so this is a neat solution! I love the King's daughter too, which torso and leg piece are those from if I may ask? And lastly, I really like the warrior princess too! Batbrick Away! Quote

Thanks a lot, friend! ) You are kind as always! ) Yes, I also like the adventurous ( )Queen! ) I think she fits perfectly as a villain.... ) Too bad there are no hi-res pics of the new evil sorceress from the calendar.... The Dwarf King is a good idea too as we already get two gold crowns for them (another in the advent calender) thus making the gold winged helmet void as a king, so this is a neat solution! Well, I must say that I don't really like the winged helmet as a crown.... ) So I decided to give the dwarven kind a "normal" crown! ) Thanks! ) I love the King's daughter too, which torso and leg piece are those from if I may ask? And lastly, I really like the warrior princess too! What pieces, please? If you mean the red outfit, then that's Queen Leonora's : http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=cas033 Thanks again for your comment, Batbrick! ) Good day, gentlemen! ) Quote
BlueBard Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 LOL Nice tale! The beginning reminds me a bit to Shakespeare's King Lear... Quote
WhiteFang Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Penguin, what are you doing here in Castle theme? You should be playing with your Batman instead of Castle. Jokes aside, my friend. Time for me to give my 5 cent worth of comments on your Castle collection. Firstly, I love your simple story that you illustrate. Do you know you can join us in EBRP that is going on at the moment? That is writing your story plot in your desired direction with the Castle mini-figs that you have. There will be interactions among other players if you cross path with them. So come and explore, EBRP now! Ok, I must admit that I had inserted some advertising in there. Well, Penguin. I am a mini-fig collector, and love to customised with different parts to represent different key positions in your kingdom. In my view, you have done a great job. Using only LEGO offical elements to mix and match, to complement a kingdom of your dream. Using Princess Storm to represent Queen Katherine is a good idea. In fact, her torso is very nice. However, I am quite surprised why you used the Cedric Bulls to represent the Lich King. I think it looks abit odd. Because, Cedric Bulls does not represent undead unless they have a dead mage that transfrom into Lich. As for the evil queen torso, you might want to place abit of prints onto it to cancel the bland effect. It looks quite simple. My suggestion is changing her with the Witch in Fright Knights theme or wait for the one that is the upcoming Castle Advent Calender. I enjoyed reading this topic. Do join us often in Castle sometimes! Quote

Yes, in my opinion, this torso ia also out of place, but I've made that Lich very long ago.... (About 7 years ago, I guess, exept for the head) So that minifig is a kind of.... can't find the right word here.... well.... one that cannot de changed, if you understand what I'm trying to say. ) As for the evil queen torso, you might want to place abit of prints onto it to cancel the bland effect. I believed they classified the above MOCs in terms of Dwarf Technology or Steampunk. I am not very familar with such works yet. But, from what I see, those are very good MOC. I remember seeing the Dwarf Oil Tanker before in one of the EB topics. Thank you very much for your kind proposal, WhiteFang! Trully an honor! ) I shall immediately study the thread carefully. That really sounds interesting. The only problem is that now I'm having my exam session and I won't be able to appear here often. May it hamper the prosess somehow? I understand. EBRP is not something that required daily post unless there are intereactions with other players. And other players might required a decision based on the next post. Basically, each of us roughly have a story plot in our mind. But the fun part is how the story plot will grow and evolved, filled with ideas and inspirations from other players as well. Even, if you have not post a few days or so, its ok. As long the post do not require other players decision. Any particpants in EBRP in this discussion thread will be gladly to help you if you are interested to find out more. Athos Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I think the gold dwarf helmet would make a better crown for the dwarf kind than the regular crown does. Too many of the same crown, otherwise. Lego really needs to make a new crown. I wonder how a batlord hat would look on a troll... Might be a good option for the troll king. Steve Quote
Asuka Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Very neat characters.... that redhead looks pretty nifty and that mean queen looks rather sexy.... hmm, there´s just something a little seductive going on with bad women I guess.... Quote

Yep, she's rather pretty and seductive: no wonder The Good King married her, despite the protests of his two daughters.... BTW, The Lich has presented her a new dress, so soon, you'll see her in a new outfit. ) Thanks for comments, gentlemen! ) Quote

Sandy Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I love the setting of this story, and all the different minifigs! I also like how you put emphasis on female characters, great job with that! The different kings are nice, but they could use a bit of variation. The gold crown isn't the only possible solution to mark a king (and I beg to disagree on the golden winged helmet, I think it suits a dwarf king (or any other king) marvelously). But I love them anyway! I always did get the feeling that the princess in the skeleton tower set was a bit of a bimbette *slap* Quote

But I love them anyway! Thank you, my dear lady! ) That is trully an honor! ) Yes, I guess it's women's time in my Kingdom version! ) The golden winged helmet indeed is great for dwarven king, but, alas, in my storyline silver winged helmets are worn by dwarven gunners (see my balloon MOC) and the golden helmets are worn by elite dwarven troops wiht axes and shields.... So I guess there is no really place for a king's version here. But when the Caendar is released, I'll see what I can do. Thank you for your comments, mylady! ) *kissing your hand* Quote

Just seems a bit of poor portrayal of her, she should've gotten midieval on the Evil Wizards big behind, but, she just lay in her cage. So, again, no offense towards you, just my issue with the character. Quote
