lego_guyon02 Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Looks like a good figure, nice to see some attention to detail with the small Prefect badge. Too bad it's in one of those really overpriced books
Flixter Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Maybe he'll show up in summer sets. The book releases on 13th September next year. And as I said, usually they don't do exclusive minifigures for such books 3 minutes ago, lego_guyon02 said: Looks like a good figure, nice to see some attention to detail with the small Prefect badge. Clone OPatra Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 It literally says "exclusive minifigure" right on the book. There's no way they're releasing this same figure in sets in 2022. It's pretty annoying IMO. They could've done a prefect version of a character we already have, like Ron or Hermione (I know that's excluded from the films). A fully exclusive character we haven't gotten yet is a pain, but hopefully they release another version of him in sets at a later date, like what they did with Tom Riddle.

It is not a pain rly. Everyone can afford a book for 10-20 bucks. I like that Tom Riddle in previous book stayed exclusive because it adds a bit of prestige to it for minifigures collectors like me.

Clone OPatra Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Just now, Textorix said: It is not a pain rly. Everyone can afford a book for 10-20 bucks. That's a bit of a reach. You don't know everyone's financial situation. Even if it's $10, that's an expensive figure all by itself. CMF are $5 USD at full retail (or $5 in AUD too, a better LEGO exchange rate than normal.) One of the exclusive figures from the Moments sets goes for much less than $10 on Bricklink. When an exclusive figure is in a more expensive set, at least you get the set with it. More LEGO is always good. When it's in a book and you don't care at all for the book, you're paying $10 or $20 just a figure. It sucks.

Most people don't care about those books as they are aimed at young children, contain very basic information you can find anywhere and are often riddled with mistakes. I'm not going to pay $20+ for a single figure and a book I will never have a use for and likely won't even flip through.

Well yeah because moments sets sell kinda poorly so the minifigures are cheap. But also this is first version of character we have never gotten before so it will be naturaly more rare no matter if it comes in set or book. 7 minutes ago, lego_guyon02 said: I'm not going to pay $20+ for a single figure and a book I will never have a use for and likely won't even flip through. cries in buying LOTR minifigures from retired sets which go from for like 40+ euro ... Jokes aside, I am one of those people who bought that book for 20 bucks only because of Tom Riddle minifig and had zero regrets but I guess not everyone is so obsessed with getting every minifigure as me :D Edited December 19, 2021 by Textorix

Yeah that's just not true. Sinistra is also the first figure of the character we've ever gotten and she's exclusive to a 150 euro set, I recently bought her for just 6 euro.
Ravenclaw62442 Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Reckon I will get three or 4. one for Percy, and then two to make Ron and Hermione prefects, I doubt we will get them as it’s not really dealt with in the movies. might get the 4th for an generic female Gryffindor prefect
Textorix Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 I mean yeah for sure he would be cheaper if we got him in Lego set but I dont think he would go under 10 euro if he would be in bigger set. Anyways I am very happy about this minifigure as it looks very accurate.
deskp Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Guess he was the missing piece for the bathroom set.
Balrogofmorgoth Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Really nice looking figure, pretty much exactly how I always wanted him to look
Textorix Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 I understand why some of you dont like exclusive minifigures in books but from Lego marketing point of view it is very smart move. If they put there some reused casual Harry or any of trio minifigures nobody except kids would want it, but once it is exclusive minifigure (even new character) they can be damn sure that this book will sell extremely well because not only kids, but also older Lego collectors and fans will buy it.

I'm looking on Amazon and it does not say exclusive. 19 minutes ago, Textorix said: I understand why some of you dont like exclusive minifigures in books but from Lego marketing point of view it is very smart move. That's nice, but still bad for the consumer. Clearly these books sell and are profitable with non-exclusive Minifigures, or LEGO/DK wouldn't make so many of them. It's also LEGO's choice to do an exclusive character rather than an exclusive variant, which they easily could've done instead.
lego_guyon02 Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 The big problem with this book (at least for me) is that LEGO deliberately chose to include a character fans have been asking for for years, not to mention picking the variant we could all use multiples of to make customs of Prefect Ron and Hermione. They could've easily selected a more common character in an outfit we're unlikely to get elsewhere (Yule Ball Ginny for example) and the book wouldn't sell any worse.

Yule Ball Moody would have been the supreme choice

Except it would sell worse, because like someone above, there are people who will pick up multiples of the book to get more than one prefect torso. Yule Ball Ginny or Moody wouldn't have that effect. It sucks, but it's clearly marketing. I hate having to buy these books for the figures, but I'm glad we're finally getting Percy. Edited December 19, 2021 by BacktoBricks
Metanoios Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 I remember a different discussion a few months ago about the hitherto exclusive Diagon Alley Harry appearing in the Advent calendar, which had a lot of people on here complaining about an "exclusive" figure coming in a now cheaper set and that it was diminishing its value. Now we get Percy for the first time ever in a "expensive" book and suddenly some of the same people are arguing that a new minifigure should be cheap and commonly available. I can't help but get a feeling by reading these discussions, that no matter what Lego does, someone will go out of their way to compain about it (even contradicting their previous train of thought by doing so). This is not meant to be derogatory - just a slight nudge, that might hopefully help remind some to see the positive in things rather than always search the negative point of view. It's nice that we get new characters like Pomfrey and Percy next year with new moulds and all new prints. Just my two cents on this matter.
Borex Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 I think it’s cool that they use new characters in those books. And if you don’t like the price it’s going for, just wait a little and get it for cheaper.
Seaber Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 With Percy and the Trunk set that's now 16 Gryffindor school uniform torso variants. So you could have Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Dean, Seamus, Lavender, Parvati, Ginny, Fred, George, Percy, Lee, Oliver Wood and Colin with no repeated bodies!
Yope Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 It's a fantastic Percy, hair is a good choice to represent the curls, torso print is great and cool to get a new faceprint - although I think the expression is the weakest part for me. I made the below list some time early this year with the most prominent omitted minifigures based on screentime and mentions in the books, nice to see that some of the holes are being filled including Percy who was by far the most significant character in the books without a minifig. I've marked the new figs in green, still plenty left for future sets or, if we're lucky, the full CMF budget!
