Tezclatipoca Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 The Castle of AAAAAAARGH I've built a little old classical style castle to find a place for my old Black Falcon guys from my childhood. The castle turned rapidly toward a Fright castle when my children suggested me to add a ghost and a skeleton. That's why it has become the Castle of AAAAAAARGH : The scream you can hear from the catacombs when a poor Lion Crusader knight finishes his days under the executioner's axe. I hope you'll like it ! C&C's welcome ! More Pictures in the spoiler : Spoiler poor guy : the next victim of the executioner is ready... Quote
Merlo Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Looks cool and fun! I love the wooden part and the fact you even managed to squeeze some interior detailing. Quote
John Cromwell Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Very cool! I like that you managed to incorporate it all onto a raised baseplate. you usually don't see people employ those when MOCing. That poor Crusader... Question, what in the world did you do to make that tree? It has no rhyme or reason whatsoever... Quote
Sarophas Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Very nostalgic! At first I thought the knight looked really weird, but the longer I look the better he works Quote

The concept was to keep an old style castle so the raised baseplate was not an option The tree is built upon a small base of some arch bricks in reddish brown attached to the baseplate and all the foliage has been added with the threading technique on the main branches, with the picture angle, you don't see very well the wood but only the foliage : that's all ! I admit it seems strange seen like this in this angle. On 12/14/2020 at 5:27 PM, Sarophas said: Very nostalgic! I'm happy to see it's working with you ! Quote

I’ve heard the technique called weaving, too. @Full Plate is the builder who comes to mind first with this technique, and he has a nice tutorial (actually, many nice tutorials) on his website, Full Plate Builds. Yes exactly ! Thank you Henjin for the explanation ! I just made it more loosely than you'll see on Fullplate Tuto to keep a more natural aspect. Quote

Feuer Zug Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Nice use of the old raised baseplate. The look is wonderful for a small keep and the story entertaining. Plenty of eggs in there with the gargoyle, ghost, skeleton, and more. Quote
