[MOC] Star Hawk II

Hi everyone,

This is build for the contest on LowLUG: Recreate a set.
I wanted to build a new version of the Star Hawk II of the Unitron.

Wow, that's sleek! Always awesome to see Unitron mocs, and this is definitely a keeper. Great build, it really captures the original model's look!

Of this sub-series, only the monorail was in our catalog.

Yes, in the Netherlands as well. I managed to buy the sets a few years ago.
They are quitte fun and yet odd.

Very good work. It's really hard to strike that balance between faithful and modernized; I think using the original canopy really helps a lot. That canopy part really defines that era of space sets.

The Star Hawk is still intact. 
I brought the fighter to the Skaerbaek fanweekend this year.

I wasn't happy with the rear side of the Star Hawk and the small tails. After a small modification is this the result.

Left is the new model and on the right was the first model.

I've now an entire squadron.

These are fun. Unitron could've been really cool, but they quit too early with that series. 

I like the fold-out weapons in the wings. Do the cockpits detach on these?

It isn't meant to be, per se, but it ends up being the perfect Lego Space version of the snowspeeder from Star Wars. Next you need to make a Spyrius walker for your little squadron to take on!

it is indeed too bad that the Unitron series was limited in sets and lifespan.
I'm glad to have all the sets.

@Stepwise yes, the cockpits can detach from the wing/engine section.
 

@icm I've got some plans for it, but that will have to wait for some time.

The sets beside the monorail were never even sold in Europe, a shame as it had cool sets. 

Maybe it was too similar to exploriens 1 year later? 

Anyway, cool remake.
